Your handwriting is gorgeous, and thanks for the great review. I must admit I was so distracted by :puddle: over your writing that I had to go back and actually read the review. :)

I think that's the highest compliment my handwriting has received. Thanks! It sure is encouraging to get compliments on my handwriting when just a few years ago I was embarrassed by it. I've worked really hard to improve. Thanks again, and to every one else too!

  • 2 weeks later...

The Everflo True Blue ink made a total difference in a nib that I had completely given up on ever using again. About a year or so ago, I bought a BI 18K gold nib at a good price for a Cross pen. It would never start without great effort (if even then). I cleaned it many times according to what I read here at FPN. It still skipped badly. No matter what ink I used (even though it might write for awhile after the first filling), it would hardly write the next day, if I could get it to start the next day. I sent it to Cross for repair. They sent it back saying it was fine. It would not even write with Cross ink the next day after a filling! So, that was a wasted $10.00 for repair. I put the nib back in the box, determined that it was a costly lesson (buying it and sending it off to repair). After reading the reviews of Everflo True Blue, I bought a bottle and tried it with this nib (the only "bad" nib I have). The nib now writes perfectly each day, and usually on the first down stroke. I really like the color of True Blue, and the BI nib is fantastic! The Everflo ink "saved" what I thought was a useless nib. So, if you have a hard to start pen, etc., you might try a bottle of this ink.

All the Best,

T

 Yay!! I'm so glad your nib problem was solved so easily. After using True Blue I loaded up my Namiki Falcon with J. Herbin Blue Nuit and it actually seemed dry. I'm going back to Everflo for this pen despite the dry time. It's a small inconvenience for such a nice ink.

Everflo True Blue has become one of my favorite inks too.

I just wonder how many of us have sent pens off to be tweaked when the problems might have been solved simply by trying different inks!

Happy Thanksgiving!

All the Best,

T

Nice fuel. Was the paper pink?

The paper is white but often looks tinted when I scan it. The colors on my monitor look true though with the exception of Ottoman Azure which looks a tad bit too green.

A white convert then:

i have to admit i'm beginning to like this ink a lot -even tho' it's not the color i expected. coming out of my Waterman Taperite M nib and the B nib of my Levenger Kyoto, just looks vibrant and the shading is beautiful!!

thx for the review, Alex. beautiful handwriting!!

great review.. ditto on wishing my own handwriting looked like yours.

also, the paper/monitor discussion valuble too..

wondering if reviews on whitelines paper. besides the usual white/whites, offwhites would be valuable too?

finally, just cleaned out the Sheaffer I purchased from Dennis Bowden.. flushed the dried original cartridge, and refilled with pre-Slovenian Peacock Blue.. It's now super-smooth, and restarts the instant it touches paper.. even after sitting for long periods.

It had been, somewhat scratchy, with intermittent flow..

During this rampage of cleaning - refilling all of my pens, with a variety of inks, the thing that amazed me most is the Differing performance with alternate inks.. there truly is a matching of the nib-feed to the ink characteristics that must be considered for optimum performance.. paper too.. whitelines tends to be somewhat dry.. the Sheaffer loves it!

Btw, from My monitor, this Everflow appears to be a saturated Peacock Blue.. nice color!

Speaking of Whitelines paper (please PM to respond, I don't wish to hijack the thread):

I have two A5 spiral bound notebooks, one lined, and one squared. Alas, my eyes do not show me enough contrast between the gray paper and white lines for these to be useful to me. I have written on one sheet in each notebook. If you have any interest, I'll make you a deal.

Cheers,

Pann

you'll have to move this offer to sales/trade forum.. while it's not for everyone, I do especially like, and recommend Whitelines.. suffering sticker shock after penning checks to Dr/Hospital.. so unfortunately, won't be me responding : )

As much as I want to like Everflo True Blue, the dry time is a deal breaker for a left handed over writer like myself.

Wonderful review and enjoyed the back and forth. I am one that likes this ink also for everyday in a Sailor Pro Gear. Thank you for providing the information and to all for the participation - it really helps me spend money wisely.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
