Sailor Yama-dori, Autumn 2010 Le

Someone pointed out to me that the links were dead. Sorry about that, I reorganized my photobucket albums. It is pretty late here in Toronto so maybe I'm just missing it, but I couldn't find the button to edit my post. So instead I'll just leave the updated link to my ink review album. It's got more than Yama-dori in there, but the Yama-dori *is* in there, I promise.

My ink review photo album.

Very nice. Thank you.

I have been looking for this ink for quite some time but the problem with Sailor LE inks is that unlike Iroshizuku or other brands, they make lovely vivid colours and then discontinue them as limited releases!!! :gaah:

But they really are nice, well behaving inks ain't they?

In Rotation: Parker DuoFold Centennial / Duofold / GvFC

In storage: Too many to name.

The Sailor autumn inks are definitely still available. I picked this one up myself about a month ago. It is probably my favourite ink.

The colour looks very similar to Diamine Steel Blue. Is it? I really want the Yamadori but already have the steel blue so it would be good too know if they are close then I wouldnt buy the Yamadori. Thanks

Wish list: Aurora Optima

Current inked Pens: Pilot Decimo - Noodlers BBH, MB Mozart - MB Lavender

Pelikan M150 - Noodlers Kung te Cheng

I don't own Diamine Steel Blue, but I did once get a sample on written paper. To my eye, the Steel Blue is a much lighter blue-green than Yama-dori. Looking back at my scans, I can see what you mean about it looking like Steel Blue, but I assure you, it's much darker.

Here's a link to the index in my ink journal. Halfway down you'll see the entry for Yama-dori. That picture is a bit dark but hopefully it will give you another idea of what the ink looks like.

Thank you for your answer. Looks like I might have to get the Yamadori as I love these teal/blue-green inks although I do have a far too large supply including two very large bottles of Noodlers Legal Lapis!

I don't know why they would make such a beautiful color and then discontinue it...I am squeezing the drops out of my one and only bottle.

I picked up a bottle of this about 2 1/2 years ago. Still have 4/5 of a bottle. It is a truly beautiful colour. I find it more so on good paper as it is less dark, and the shading and colour come through loud and clear. On cheap paper, it soaks in darker, and justr becomes a dark teal colour.

I found the showthrough to be mildly problematic on cheaper paper, not at all on good paper.

The biggest beef I had with this ink is that it dries quickly in the nib.
