Rhodia Lined Pads And Holders

I just got a #16 pad today. What I can't figure out, is why is the margin line so far over? The margin is 1.5 inches wide. For the size of the pad, I'd think it should be about half of that. I just seems like a lot of wasted space. And the line is kinda bright to just ignore and write over it.

Not sure, honestly - I just figured it was a European thing. :) I pretty much ignore the margin line.

As a followup, my Aurora Hastil fits quite nicely into the pen loop of the #16, so it's been accompanying the pad around for a little while now. I'm actually going to be buying a couple more of the #16 covers and probably pairing them with #16 dotPads to use as work notebooks; I've resisted spending my own money on work notebooks for a long time, but the experience is just so superior that I don't think I can resist any longer.

I've really been enjoying the dotPads particularly of late, as the page has enough structure that my writing doesn't go all over the place, but the dot grid is nice and subtle and doesn't interfere with readability.

It is. :)

I've been using Rhodia pads for taking class notes. It is definitely a smooth paper. As pointed out already, because of the paper's density, ink takes a while to dry and set in. Using A4 size paper in the US is a bit of a pain, though. It doesn't fit into letter-sized folders or binders without hanging over the sides. Personally, I would be very excited to see Rhodia make a US letter-size pad.

Rhodia #18 is 8.3 x 11.7 inches which is roughly letter size (8.5 × 11), I use letter size guide sheets under the 18 blank notepad and the pad is a bit thinner than the letter size paper, it has the same length.

I checked the sizes and Rhodia #18 is supposed to be 0.7 inches wider than my letter size guideline, yet the guideline is wider.

The art store I got them from had bigger notepads, I didn't notice the difference until I stacked them.

I put the bigger one back, I found out it was a Rhodia #19, which is 8.3 x 12.5.

Rhodia calls that size (A4 detache) which means A4 "without binding".

That size feels more like Legal size, which is indeed a pain, to file in anything standard Letter size.

According to Wikipedia A4 measures 210 by 297 millimetres (8.3 in × 11.7 in).

Legal measures 8.5 × 14 inches or 215.9 × 355.6 mm

So Rhodia #19 is between letter and legal size paper, it is a mystery of why it was set up that way.

So U.S Rhodia buyers must make sure that their notepad is #18, if they want it to fit inside letter size school binders or folders.

Nice review - well done. I've had these covers for a year or two now. They wear very well and are fit for purpose. My only (minor) dislike is that they are quite thick and chunky, and not very flexible. If you like these check out the gfeller covers for Rhodia too.

Alternatively, the US could come to its senses and switch to metric. :)

This is a link to a thread I created a couple of days ago.

It is about a new product line seen in French language's Rhodia page.

The Rhodiarama webpockets, in all the Rhodiarama colors, and in two sizes, one that fits A5/#16 Rhodia notepads and another that fits A6/#13 Rhodia notepads.

They might actually just fit the paper from the respective notepads.

Oh look another new product, coloR, Rhodia pads in Rhodiarama colors!

I so hope they will be available in the U.S!

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
