Pen Shop In Charlotte Airport

I was at a conference in Savannah, GA last week. During the trip I hoped to locate some rollerball refills (I don't like to fly with FPs, personally). Found one promising shop, La Paperie, on Whitaker. Unfortunately, they only carried Lamy refills and one size of Schmidts (not the size I needed, naturally). They sell Taccia and Lamy pens, BTW. So, assuming I would simply need to go to my trusty Avalon Pens when I got home, imagine my surprise while strolling through the Charlotte airport to my gate. The "shop" (really, a kiosk the size of a small store in the center part of the airport) is called "Time to Write", and specializes in MontBlanc. There was a collection of low-, mid-, and high-end pens and watches available, and PR bottled ink. I was excited to see ACME crayon pens in the case, which meant they should have the refill I needed. In fact, they had the Private Reserve version. Pleasant service, slightly more expensive but not out of the realm of reasonable.

No affiliation, just a satisfied customer passing the word along to other frustrated or bored travelers!

This place is one of the reasons I like flying through Charlotte. They keep their stock and selection relatively fresh. You aren't likely to find a super good price on things, but they are fairly close to typical pen shop retail.

Likewise, no affiliation, just a interesting diversion on the way through the airport.

PS: Flying with FP's is not to difficult. I typically have 3-4 or more with me, and I fly on average about 4-6 segments/month. In broad strokes (so to speak), none of my Pelikans, an MB146 & 144, Lamy Safari/Vista/Al-Star's, have ever leaked. Everyone of my 1970's Japanese pocket FP's has leaked. A Waterman Charleston does sometimes. In general, most FP's I have tried tolerate flying well.

My experience has been the same. M90 seems to explode every time. Just a function of the filling system leaving significantly more air in the pen I suppose.

Really? My M90 has done 2 transatlantic sections and 4 medium-hauls in the past week, in various stages of filling and with and without inflight usage. Hasn't spilled a drop...

I have also seen the small pen shop at the Charlotte Airport. It certainly stopped me in my tracks. I had to take a look...nice selection.

I live in NC, and as far as I have been able to discover, this is the best pen store in the state. The problem is, it's in the concourse and you need a ticket to get to it. Maddening! (If anyone knows of a better selection in NC, I'm in the Triangle area and all ears.)
