I don't know about in the city, but my brick and mortar of choice is located at Woodfield Mall (Schaumburg, I think <_< ). It is called Executive Essentials and is basically in the center of the mall. It would only be about an hour's drive from the city and they have a great selection of just about anything you can imagine. Furthermore, they will order anything from any catalog and save you the shipping. Also, they will price match for you if you bring in an ad (or a printout from the internet) from a legitimate pen dealer (ex. NOT EBay... :P ). Check them out online at www.executiveessentials.com .

Disclaimer: I have no connection to the store at all in any way, shape, or form. I am simply a satisfied customer who wants to spread the joy of shopping here to all of Chicagoland! They are extremely willing to work with you in any way that they can and I find that rare in this day and age.

Well for you, if you wrestle on, for in persistency lies victory, and with the morning may come the wished-for blessing. But not always; there is a struggle with defeat which some of you will have to bear, and it will be well for you if you have cultivated a cheerful equanimity. Remember, too, that sometimes 'from our desolation only does the better life begin.' Even with disaster ahead, it is better to face them with a smile, and with the head erect, than to crouch at their approach. And, if the fight is for principle and justice, even when failure seems certain, where many have failed before, cling to your ideal, and, like Childe Roland before the dark tower, set the slug-horn to your lips, blow the challenge, and calmly await the conflict.

--"Aequanimitas" William Osler

Valedictory Address, University of Pennsylvania, May 1, 1889

The Levenger's on State Street is larger than the one on Water Tower, and has a better selection. Gilbertson Clybourn is great store and has a great selection. The owner, Dan, is a really nice guy. He's really funny too. Definitely worth a stop. It's about a half block down from the American Girl store, next to the Bank of America.

Other than that, and Executive Essentials and Paradise Pens (which are out in the 'burbs), it's slim pickins'.
