Rotring Quattro Multipen

OK, It's not a fountain pen, but the "blind cap" that covers the eraser fell from the pen and cannot be located. It's probably somewhere in the basemant storage area of my condo. Although my chances of finding it are somewhat greater than winning the lottery, I don't expect to do so.

Does anyone know whether these caps can be purchased?

BTW, I just discovered that these pens were made in a few colors. Mine is black

Thanks.

George

Just a further comment. I called Rotring Repair in Janesville WI to see if I could get a replacement cap from them. Their answer was that I had to send the entire pen to them.

OK.

I really don't understand why the entire pen must go back to them in order to obtain a replacement blind cap to fit over the eraser. I can't imagine that the tolerance curve is so great that they must be individually fitted, as the spokesperson implied. Anyway, it's less costly than buying a replacement pen so I'll send it off and hope for the best. :(

George,

Right now, the only pen I carry that isn't a fountain pen is my Steadtler Retro 4, another really decent pen that has been doscontinued. Like the Rotring Quattro, it's built like a tank and comes with a lifetime warranty.

Something I discovered is that the Zebra mini ballpoint refills work infinitely better than the Staedtler refills and I do believe that all the multi pens use the same size refills for all their respective writing points.

sending the entire pen may just be a matter of them assuring you are an owner

though it seems silly for such a tiny part

Hi George, KCat,

Sending the whole pen is just standard practice. I had to send in the whole pen on several occasions, where just a small part would have sufficed, or where they could just have sent a part themselves.

Maybe something to do with CMM ratings and the paperwork surrounding it, I don't know.

Kind regards, Wim

Wim, KCat;

Thanks for the comments. It looks as if I'm dealing with yet another of the corporate bureaucratic absolutes. Oh well, off it goes and we'll see what happens. I find that I use the pencil and stylus more than the BP and the highlighter hardly at all.

  • 1 month later...

After almost a month's wait, it's back.

Well, not actually. Because the older style of multipen that I had is no longer manufactured, I was sent a new pen of slightly different style. :)

What would be the section if it were a fountain pen is slightly built up with some engraved indentations making the pen somewhat easier to hold. The clip is redesigned so that it hinges; when hinged to place the pen in a pocket, whatever point had been extended retracts. Good Idea!! :eureka:

I was charged only a nominal fee this; quite reasonable since it's my own d*** carelessness that caused the problem in the first place.

To Parker, Sensa, Waterman, Rotring Repair Center, Congratulations

George

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
