The New Inkleaf Leather Webnotebook Cover

I got home the other day and to my surprise, the cover I have been hounding Bogie for arrived in the mail, just in time for my little trip!!!!

It was very well packed and i like the little cardboard shreds...

First impressions I loved the character of the leather. Like a saddle I use to have, or one of the saddle bags.

It was a nice heavy gauge leather with a nice feel. The stitching is very well done and the tooling is very clean.

The inside flap leather is the same leather as the outside cover, which to be honest concerned me at first,

but in the end I do not think this will be a factor in the daily use and operation of the cover with journal in it.

Mind you the below image is with a Webbie V2 that is new and not broken in, and neither is the cover.

It lays open on its own and stays attached to the book while writing, so it does not need to be fiddled with when closing the cover with book.

When closing the cover you can still utilize the strap on the webbie to keep the whole thing closed.

You do have to get into the practice of wrapping the elastic band to the back of the cover, but after

a few time I am doing it without thinking about it. if you do not you need to 'dig' it out of the precut area for the strap.

My Pilot 74 and prera can clip securely to the strap for transport and does not come out with light shaking.

Over all I think once this has some use on it it will be broken in nice. I have no initial worries about placing

additional items in my journals like I like to, photos, clippings, and random other things that I place in it that

makes it an inch think by the time I am through.

The cover has a wonderful look, feel and quality construction. I may venture to purchase another for my smaller notebooks.

I would recommend purchasing this roughed, fashionable, durable, sophisticated and stylish cover to everyone who is seriuos

about protecting their notebook.

Will the habanas fit in this cover?

No but I hear that there may be one on the way....

That cover is gorgeous. Do you find it adds a lot of thickness or weight to the overall size of the journal?

I do not find that it impedes in the journals use as I use it. It does add weight and thickness, you are adding a leather cover to the outside. But ascetically it is a beautiful cover, that has a timeless quality, and a classic look to it.

As far as weight you will never notice. Its like the weight difference of wearing a long sleeve shirt instead of a short sleeve....

Trust me buy one put it on and you will see what I mean.

So if you don't mind my asking, who is "Bogie" and where might one obtain one of these?

I am. My fiancee and I are leather workers and we originally made these covers for the Moleskine's but got so many requests for Webbie versions that we did that too. We've also been getting a lot of requests lately for the Habana's, so I just ordered a large and a small for sizing. As for where to find them, for now you can purchase them on our Etsy store which can be found here:

We're working on our own online store, but it won't be live until Tuesday.

Nice review -- thanks!

I received my small Webbie version of this Inkleaf the same day you posted this; it fits wonderfully (and as you mentioned, great workmanship). And thanks for the tip about wrapping the elastic around the back while using the journal!

I also ordered the large Webbie Inkleaf cover and expect to receive it sometime this week.

It's great to have a Webbie-specific leather cover available.

Question - does the inside leather which holds the notebook cover cause any issues with writing on the backside of the first few pages? This looks like the same thickness of leather I used to make holsters.

I'll let you know when I get there, but I am sure it is nothing an index card could not fix. I personally do not mind not using the last two or three pages, because I always put pictures or some such thing on my pages anyway.

But if you really wanted to use the last two pages, then put an index card behind them, or just simply slip it out before you finish and place a new one in and then finish the journal, or just unhook it from the back cover. I do not foresee this as an issue that can not be overcome. This I think would be the same for any cover to some degree.
