Have You Guys/gals Tried Pilot's Iroshizuku?

for those who have a bottle, what do you think? i bought a bottle from jetpens and i must say i'm impressed. the ink is very consistent, dries fairly fast, and the color is amazing. plus unlike the aurora black it penetrates better on certain papers. i have the shin ryoku

Yes! Love Iroshizuku! :thumbup: I have 8 bottles and use it all the time. It is great in all my pens. Never causes problems, and as you say, the colours are gorgeous! I wonder which colour you have? I just wish they would do a really black black.

I have the tsuki-yo. I haven't found a pen yet that it doesn't do incredibly well in....a winner in my book! :) I have also had samples of kon-peki, ku-jaku, asa-gao, momiji, and tsutsuji. If they didn't cost as much as they do per bottle, I would have a bottle of each of the ones I have sampled and maybe a few others. All but the true green and browns....just don't use those colors no matter what brand it is. Same results as you mentioned for mine in everything that I have tried them in...and great for hard/ dry starters. :D

Pilot Iroshizuku is my favorite brand of ink! I have 11 of their colors that I have collected over the past year and love each and every one. Like the post above states, I have yet to find a pen or paper that they do not do well with.

Iroshizuku inks are fabulous....all 17 colors give impressive performances with certain pen, nib,& paper combinations. I've found that the more varied conditions you put the fluid thru...the more varied & surprising the results.Examples... the grays are my favorites in vintage Sheaffer's tubes. Yama-guri seems to do well in specific Targas' . The blues work their thing in vintage Parkers. All of them pair well with VP's and Falcons. My paper is Claire...it seems to suit my hand(s). Give yama-budo a go...with a flexi nib ...like... in a medium Namiki Falcon....that should answer most of your queries. Try your green Iro in that pen, too.

All 17 Iroshis are very good inks, all have good properties, and are also all very well behaved.

I'm just not yet convinced that they are worth so much dough.

thanks, actually i was looking for green and i think i found it with 'green tea'. about the price, it is more expensive but i wonder if most of it comes from the bottle cost (and plenty for marketing and profit) and not the ink!

The two grays are kiri- sami ( gray with sliver shimmer) & fuyu- syogun ( gray with blue tint) .The syogun looks like a cool pencil trace. I put it to a check....the clerk asked me to do it in ink.....lol. Iro yama -guri is in the brown family... as is tsukushi. It is darker....if you r into brown ink...walnut shell in color. If you've never used these fluids you owe it to yourself to do so.

I haven't tried it yet, but it's definitely on my to-buy list. I don't have many green inks, so I'll probably go with either Shin-ryoku or Tsuki-yo (if I decide I want something a little bluer). If I don't grab myself a bottle before December, maybe I'll add it to my Christmas list.

My b-d out there in FPN- land. ?? would you want another black , black when there is Aurora out there...or H's PN for that matter... or a Sailor Nano Bk. I'm encouraged that Pilot focused their r&d on colors...and not thrown it into a bk product.

I love the Iroshizuku inks that I have - asa gao and kon peki - and highly recommend this ink :) Kon peki is fast becoming my favorite in any (every) pen!

It's one of two brands that will never make it to my stable, chiefly because of the - what I view to be - unconscionable price. For what is being charged, I should see a fast forward cinematic of Fantasia in every majuscule I form.

I think it's a matter of folks liking to cover a brand across the board if they find that one or two of the colors behave particularly well or they like the lubrication or flow properties of other Pilot Iroshizuku inks and consider it significantly different from other brands. Seems the bottles are much loved and therefore having an excuse to acquire yet another bottle.

 

There's also the little issue (utter bull, but still) that a lot of Pen manufacturers claim that their inks are designed for their pens and only their inks should be used and so forth. As I said, utter bull. so having a "complete" line (whatever that is) is probably preferred.

 

However, I agree with you that these particular inks seem to be aiming at subtleties a black ink wouldn't necessarily take advantage of. For that matter, there are plenty of inks all over the place of all sorts of colors. But we still go nuts when new ones come out. I've got my eye on one of the Iro blues and I have so many blues already that I don't use. :P

 

I've only tried one now for the last couple of days. Not sure the color works for me (haven't decided) but it does flow very nicely from what has been a rather stingy pen. Yet so far, no misbehavior. I'll have to put it in a pen that just sits and does nothing for two or three days at a time like most of my pens do during the semester. Only my daily writers get much attention during school.

I have the Tsukushi which is supposed to be a dark reddish brown. I had a pleasant surprise to find that it also has a greenish tint within the brown when the ink is dry and the paper is tilted in the light.

One of my favourites!!! Nicely saturated and good ink properties.

You should be able to tell which is my current favourite. :embarrassed_smile:

I've been using them since they first hit the market, and love them all - the only ones I don't have are the greys, and I will look for them soon. Wonderful inks that I use with confidence in all my pens!
