Fountain Pens In Movies And Tv

I hope it's a dry writer, like a Platinum... I can't tell what it might be from the shots though.

The pen looks kind of low price to me. And I do write a page a day. Plus I have a notebook and pen dedicated to the Merriam-Webster app word of the day. I write down their word, and how it applies or doesn’t apply to my experiences.

The last thing I wanted to suggest is that you don't use your pens!!!! I was more reminding myself that using pens is sometimes more enjoyable than geeking out over models and makes from a distance.

 

ETA: And I too love looking up words, reminding myself of their various meanings, and learning new ones in the process. 🙂

No worries @Scribs I understood what you meant. I’m glad I’m finally using some of the notebooks I’ve bought and bought. I have a pen a day that I usually pick the night before.

@Misfit -- I used to watch that show!  Of course, I don't remember that scene at ALL, because I didn't really know about fountain pens back then....

I can not read what the inscription says, but the pen looks exactly like a Pilot Vpen/Varsity.

@boilermaker1975 -- You beat me to the punch!  I just finished watching that episode of Bookish about half an hour or so ago!  Although, given that I think the series is set in post WWII/1950s London, people still using fountain pens probably isn't all that surprising.  

@Gloucesterman -- Didn't get a good look at the nib (and, of course stupidly deleted the episode even though I'd planned to save it to fast forward to the parts it's in ) -- and apparently it's not available on demand as a freebie  -- but according to the plot/dialogue, yes, it was supposedly a music nib (the main character, Mr. Book, even *explains* to one of the other characters about how a music nib works!

@Misfit It has not. Actually I think the first two episodes were better than the next four.

I've liked it so far, but often have trouble with the accents, and also have to crank up the volume a lot.

Of course it says a lot that the star is also the creator, producer, and script writer -- so maybe he's more than just a little egocentric?

My problem with closed captioning is that I can't always read it fast enough (I have run into that watching stuff over at a friend's house).  And because my husband is dyslexic (and was in some phonics program in elementary school called ITA, for which he got NO remedial help when they decided it didn't work; AND got negative reinforcement to reading for pleasure from his mom growing up [there's a special place in Hell for people like my late mother-in-law]) makes closed captioning even _worse_ for him than for me.... 

I understand the need for closed captioning if something is originally in a foreign language, but otherwise?  Not so much....

In the last couple years we’ve started watching TV with the subtitles on, and it has made a huge difference for my wife and me!
