Ink Drop Monthly Ink Sample Club At Gouletpens.com!

GouletPens

Recommended Posts

This club is the first of it's kind ever done (that I know of) in the fountain pen world. At GouletPens.com we've set up a monthly ink sample membership club designed to provide a fun and exciting experience with testing various fountain pen inks!

http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_qVJOiluU9_4/TG9a7T7_lLI/AAAAAAAAAzs/B1HT2LZ7UP4/s400/InkMess.jpg

I've had to arrange this whole club to be logistically manageable for my wife and I since we're the whole operation (and my wife works full time too!). The club is called the Ink Drop, sort of a play on words....the drop representing both the 'ink sample' aspect of the club and the fact the inks are literally being 'dropped' off in your mailbox! Here's how we've set it up:

* Sign up for a $10 monthly membership ($15 for international members), and you are automatically mailed 5 ink samples (2ml) each month with a 'theme' for the month to hint your colors. Each month will be 5 little surprises for you to try! September will be 'Back to School' colors.

* You can purchase full bottles of the corresponding ink samples at a 10% discount for the duration of the month!

* Members gain access to a special Ink Drop 'members only' section of GouletPens.com for special deals on inks and other items (like glass pens or the empty glass bottles I have left over from all of the samples....)

* Special Ink Drop newsletters will be sent out to members for the hottest news in the ink world, as well as first notification of the arrival of new colors and limited edition products.

* I will do Ustream live broadcasts towards the end of each month with the topic of the Ink Drop colors, for an interactive chat about your experiences with the inks.

* There are over 280 ink colors available at GouletPens.com, so you will always be able to find new inks you've been longing to try. Our current brands are J. Herbin, Diamine, Caran d'Ache, Private Reserve, Sheaffer, and Pelikan, and Noodler's and Platinum are ordered and on their way!

This is going to be an incredibly fun program with a lot of potential for fellowship and fun with other ink lovers. I'm a serious inkoholic myself and I want to share that passion with all of you! :clap1:

That sounds awesome, Brian! Thanks. :D

Is there a limit as to membership numbers at all? I'm starting school soon so I must budget. :)

Very cool idea! I'm on a student budget too, but maybe I'll go without lunch a couple days a month...

Mmhmm. I usually would pack my own lunches to school. :P Reusable water bottle and all that. But with California's budget cuts, that might not be quite enough. :( Even when I didn't buy textbooks, but rather, used the library's reserves it was hard. O_O

I used to be pretty good about that but I've developed a complete aversion to sandwiches and frozen burritos don't sound so good anymore. I need to come up with something else that's quick and cheap (and good).

(sorry to go off topic. I really do think it's a GREAT idea.)

Most people scoff, but I usually just go with a granola bar & apple for lunch at school, and have a normal breakfast and dinner at home. It saves me buying food out, and I'm never hungry.

Back to the Ink Drop; I just got into the member shop, and am officially going to go broke. Discounts on things that I already wanted? Really cool, but not good for my wallet. Beside this, I need to look around for my old glass pen again before I go buying a new one.

I'm not quite sure what you're asking here....do you mean am I only going to allow a certain number of people to be in the club? No, I won't limit anyone! Perhaps I'll end up doing another 'tier' of the club later on that is more 'exclusive', but let's see how this club does first!

I do have some cool stuff in there, and I haven't even put up the ink bottles for the month yet! There will be no hope for you once you actually try the samples then have the bottles at killer prices

Weee....this is fun already, and I haven't even sent samples yet! :clap1:

This sounds like a fantastic idea :) Thank you, Brian!

This is awesome... I am in!

Brian... first the ink palette and now this ink club... I think this 2 person operation does better service than many big ones. I am sure this is gonna grow!

Brian, any problem if both hubby and I join? (You'd be mailing two sets of samples to the same address...and they could all go together if that was easier/cheaper for you.) Two memberships might be in the best interest of marital harmony, LOL! If that creates issues, we'll hope that our ink tastes become more divergent...

Edit: saw the note on your website that people can purchase multiple memberships, so I'm presuming this is okay. At any rate, I've signed up now <rubbing hands with glee and anticipation>

Hey Brian,

Any chance the blotter thing we discussed will be included as a sample/gift to members? (I'm all signed up too!)

I just called and asked about them, and they're pretty expensive. I will have to figure out how I could really make them beneficial to justify the cost. I know they would be a great thing to have, but I just don't know if the cost will be justified for a 'giveaway' item like this.

No problem at all! I see you already signed up so just have your hubby sign up and you'll be all set. But in the future, know that if you do in fact want to purchase multiple memberships you can just raise the quantity of them before you 'add to cart'. We don't have the capability to have multiple memberships purchased at the same time be mailed to different addresses though, unfortunately. For that, you'll have to go through the process twice, once for yourself, and the other for your friend (just put their address in the 'ship to' section).

I'm in. Does this just automatically bill every month? If, someday, I find I'm drowning in samples, can I just email to cancel?

It's set to automatically bill, and if you want to cancel you can either email me or do it automatically through the website anytime
