Parker 51 Demi

Hey all.

 

Just impulse-bought a P51 Forest Green Demi (technically a slender) off the intraweb due to its fabulous price I just couldnt let the offer pass. I knew that it was unlikely that I'd ever find a better 51 deal. However, I'm slightly 'concerned' about its size. Does the Demi feel as balanced and as comfortable as full-sized Parkers? Keep in mind that I have slightly smaller than average hands I'd love to hear from any owners of Demis

You should have no problems at all... I have a ham hock and sausages attached to my wrist and can use a Demi fine.

Love my demi! I have small but not teeny tiny hands. The fun thing about the demi is that once you post it, it's pretty much a full size pen. (For me anyway)

Wife's demi fits my hand just fine.

I have hands of average size, I guess, and I think the Demi, when posted, is one of the most-comfortable-to-hold pens in my collection.

If Goldilocks were picking a pen size, she would have chosen the Parker Demi

By the way, what Quink would you reccomend me to use? Does perminent ink have any major advantage over washable, or is just down to my preference in colour? I hear that non-washable can dry on the inside of the pen causing all sorts of havoc and whatnot.

I picked up one at the Michigan Pen Show last weekend. I've been using it all week and it feels about the same as any other "51".

There are two models of the Demi. The Vacumatic is the same diameter as the full size, just shorter. This, I find, is a really comfortable pen, in some ways more so than the full size for my small hands.

 

The Aerometric is, I believe, more slender than the regular version. Sorry, never used one.

 

If I knew my "51" colours, I'd know which one you have, but I guess it's the Aerometric, since you say "Slender."

 

So why am I posting ? Oh, I know, if the Aerometric is too slender for you, but you like the length, there is still hope.

Good point, Michael! I should have remembered this as I was looking for a gold-filled cap for my Aerometric '51' Demi (I finally got one from Dillon---thanks again, Dillon!) and someone on Pentrace kindly pointed out that the Aerometric '51' Demi cap and the Vacumatic '51' Demi caps are not exactly the same.

 

I don't have a Vacumatic '51' Demi, but my Aerometric, when posted, is perfect for my hand size....
