Is it easy to remove and later re-insert insert the nib feed units of these pens? Do you need to apply some heat first?

I do not apply any heat. I just grab nib and feed with a thick rubber band. Grab them firmly, thumb on nib and index first knuckle on the feed.

I just received my Custom Heritage 912 with a MS nib. I already have a 3776 Music nib which I bought a few months back. I love the juice, line variation and sharpness of the Pilot MS nib. After doodling with my new Pilot MS for a while, I remembered this excellent review, thank you again Iosepus.

Pls, parkerbeta, do the review, it will be a good reference. When you say similar, is it the line variation aspect or the size of the tipping and the way that they are ground etc.?

Sorry for the delay Hari, but I only read your reply today. Anyway, it gave me the motivation to do the MS vs SU comparison, which you can find here.

 

I should add that the similarity I thought there was between the MS and SU nibs is only superficial -- my memory was playing tricks as I hadn't used the SU in a few months when I acquired the MS. The side-by-side comparison shows the MS nib is considerably broader than the SU. The SU is a true stub, but the MS behaves more like a very broad cursive italic, in my (inexpert) opinion.

Update: I did get the pilot 742 music nib and, I actually think the sprnginess makes up for the lesser line width variation. Both are great to write with, but I think I prefer the pilot. I might try to fabricate a feed for out with two slits like the platinum has...
