it's a term used by Noodlers ink to say it is waterproof and other check changing chemical proof. Now there's another level to protect against lasers.

bulletproof to me would mean it can not be damaged by any bullet(s)...

bulletresistant would be like "bulletproof" vests

The inks sold as "Bulletproof" I would call tamper resistant. This does not mean that the ink retains 100% of it's darkness, contrast, or color, but that it provides reliable resistance to chemical, optical and mechanical removal.

Wasn't one of our FPN members seriously injured trying to test whether an ink was bulletproof? I think her user name was A_Bedelia.

I plan to live forever. So far, so good.

I think I'm going to head to the range with some targets made out of bulletproof ink. Will report back on various calibers. Don't think anything will stand up to magnum turkey loads though.

Bulletproof inks are very much like bulletproof vests. They don't outright block an attempt, but they make it survivable. A bulletproof ink may bleed, change color, fade, etc, but it will 1) show signs of tampering, and 2) be very difficult to remove without damaging the paper.

Most of the mainstream bulletproofs from Noodler's are waterproof. The Warden series is laser proof, but some color washes away or changes, but it is still quite there, not really faded. Some like Prime of the Commons (I think it is) have a definite color change that evidences tampering. Regardless, they are all permanent, and meant to last for as long as the paper it is on exists. All are designed to be tamper resistant in some manner. I happily use Legal Lapis on the few remaining checks I write. The "near bulletproof" inks are the ones with a base of Noodler's bulletproof black mixed with another color. When told to hit the showers, the secondary color will wash away, but a line of the black remains, albeit faded in appearance. My favourites of these are Red Black and Blue Black.
