Pelikan 100 Deep Red Barrel

I too concur on the year. A second year Pelikan. But the barrel looks like a Bakelite one to me

The barrel is bakelite, I had to make a repair at the filler end under the binde. Pen was kind of beat up when it arrived, its cap crack is now repaired, it has a nice Pelikan steel nib in it, cap clip I had that fits, re-corked and now working just fine.

Thank you for all the information from everyone, a lot of detail I was kind of aware of, but did not know where the date placing fitted.
