Vintage Platinum Catalogue

Hi all,

this is a vintage catalogue which I found.

I know very little about japanese pens, but I thought it could be nice to share it.

I believe it is from 1973.

It includes the beautiful sakura wood pocket pen, the Platinum Platinum and the leather serie (which, I guess, opened the road to the Amazonass collection).

Ciao

Thanks for the informative post!

For the "Platinum Platinum" models, can anyone discern the characters that describe what each body (barrel) is made of? Looks like the left-most model is different from the rest.

I love those desk sets. So purty.

Thank you for sharing the catalogue pages. I just love the Platinum pocket pens, especially the pretty ones with flowers and such and the coloured ones. I think that golf club desk set is pretty cool too - very 70's!

The large Platinum pens with crosshatch patterns shown came in four similar models. The pen on the right side of the catalog appears to be the standard sterling silver model with Pt Alloy nib. It sold for Y10,000. The pen on the far left appears to be the gold plated (the characters read 'gold mix') version of the pen on the right and only comes with a Medium nib. Thus, the color difference. The standard model comes with an 18K WG nib. I mentioned four versions. There is also a rhodium-plated model.

The pens with Platinum nibs came in more models than shown. I've had at least two with stainless bodies, one a 'short-long' model. For those into specialized nibs, the pens could be had with a Music nib as well.

Hi Stan. You really need to publish a book for vintage Japanese pens. :notworthy1: I will be the first in the queue to buy it. :puddle:

Other pens available for sale:

Pelikan : Keep a watchout here, M805 FPs, M400 and M405 FPs,

This is a nice topic. I really like vintage Platinum pens. Here is what's lurking in my collection

Pens #2 and #4 from the left have Pt Alloy nibs. The rest have 18K WG or 18K yellow gold. The last one is vermeil (gold plating over sterling silver).

They could all do with a bit more polishing and apologies in advance for the lousy photo

Thank you so much for posting! I have the fifth one in the first picture, and didn't know anything about the pen until now. I can't quite discern from the resolution, but does it say that it listed for 8,000 yen? Pretty good, considering I got it for about 900 yen at a flea market....

Thank you! Just curious, I'd consider it a bargain no matter the original list price because of how well it writes.

Nikolaos, I am consumed with jealousy! Such gorgeous wee pens your wife has there. Lovely. Thanks for the picture.

This is a vintage Platinum I have. The Bel Age with stainless steel body (I guess) and gold nib, very similar to the Aurora Hastil one.

I think it is from the '70s.

Sweet! And like others have said, it would be nice if they still had 1973 pricing!

The BelAge had a 10,000 yen price tag. I just slip it off from under the clip, to take a better picture.

I am not sure if it is from the early '70s.

I do have three more Bel Age, two of them comes in a lacquer finish, red and blue, with a 10,000 and a 7,000 yen price sticker on them.

So they might have different ages, but they are identical (apart from the colours).

Hi, there,

Does anyone happen to have a 1960's brochure / catalog of Platinum and Pilot fountain pens?

Thanks
