I am recent convert to the fountain pen community, and I am a new user of the Levenger Circa system. I love my fountain pens, and the Circa system is a great organizational tool that meets my needs. I am committed to the continued use of my fountain pens, and I do not want to stop using the Circa system. I do not, however, like the paper. In fact, the more I try to make the paper work, the more frustrated I get. The Levenger paper is unacceptable. I have read the frustrations of other Circa users on this site, but I have yet to see a viable solution. I am reconciled to the fact that I will have to purchase the Levenger paper hole punch to accommodate some other type of paper, but I am still too new to the fountain pen/paper world to make a truly informed decision on what to do about the paper issue. I don't know what type of paper to use, how to get ruled lines on it, etc. Any suggestions?

I attached the template (as a pdf file) I use to print lines on my paper for my circa notebooks. Hope it helps.

Thus template is great. Thanks! Do you have any that resemble the outlay of the Levenger paper?

Did you mean the annotated paper, for Cornell note taking? If so here is one.

Lots of great suggestions here. I, too, have had my own frustrations with Circa paper -- I think it was tested on rollerballs and ballpoints. Not FPs.

My own simple fix has been to try a wetter nib and less dark ink -- so I write with a gray in a wet medium. I have to say all this talk of heavier paper has me thinking....!

I have a laserjet, so the cost is substantially less than an inkjet printer. I gave up inkjet printing for everyday text and it is only used for my photography now - the cost/life of ink cartridges is ridiculous compared to the cost/life of a toner cartridge. I do a lot of text printing, so the laserjet just makes more sense for my needs. The other benefit is that laserjet printed lines are impervious to sweaty hands or a splash of spilled tea.

I've only had a couple of experiences with printing at kinkos and it wasn't an inexpensive as I'd expected - I needed the printout spiral-bound as well, so I tried the online submit/print/bind on demand option. I was fine for the lengthy document, but I enjoy being able to vary the line spacing or tone of gray to my satisfaction and without having to leave the house to do so.

Yes, this is exactly what the form for which I was searching. Thank you! Not only do I now have the desired template, I also have learned the name of it. A template and an education. Maybe I will get a basic grasp of the pen/paper world soon.

I use a junior size Circa and Neenah Classic Crest 24# paper - I did a review here: Levenger's Circa System - Junior Size

Great review and some insightful suggestions. Several of the forms you develped are causing me to rethink some of my notebook strategies.

Good points. Will need to produce my forms on a friend's laser printer.

I have been using Levenger paper for years in their Legal size ruled pads. I called to order more and they no longer make them. Do any of you know if their paper is made by someone else or if someone has comparable paper? I've tried the ones sold in stores and they do not compare, especially for using a fountain pen.

Thanks

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
