Top-bound journal with blank pages?

Recommended Posts

I have been completely smitten with the top-bound format and sub-A5 size of the new Moleskine Reporter. (It is 5" by 8.25")

However, no surprise, with blank pages the paper is the usual cheesy stuff. (They use a different paper in the graph version, but I can't think on lined or graph paper. Go figure.)

I have looked at all the usual suspects, who mostly do not make a top-bound journal. Or the rare top-bound journals I have found are mostly much smaller, or larger enough to make them uncomfortable to hold whilst I write.

Or they are landscape sketch books, with paper that is less than optimal for basic fountain pen journaling/brainstorming.

Or they are wire-bound but with graph or lined paper only, no blank pages.

Does anyone know of something with good fountain pen paper, in the same top-bound/landscape format, really close to 5" by 8.25"?

Thanks.

here's a bunch of stuff to look at...

usually priced very reasonably.

i just got two flexi pads (side bound of course) and the paper is very nice. it's got more tooth than the standard CF or my Mead journal, but it's nice with fountain pens. doesn't bleed or feather at all.

oh and i just noticed this one.

12471-7929 Flexi-Sketch Book Celery Landscape 6" × 9" List $11.99 $9.59

yeah it says landscape, but there's no printing anywhere to bug you when you hold it sideways. it's got a cardstock type cover so it'll fold back easily enough...

  • 2 weeks later...

I think Rhodia do that style - available from the Writing Desk in the UK (no affil. etc), but surely somewhere in USA, too?

...I have inky little fingers...

Clairefontaine "Classic" has a topbound version you can get them from Goulet Pens(no affiliation, happy customer)if you want something on the cheaper side then Ampad Golden Fibre, note they're cheap in price but not cheap in quality.
