FPN's PEN ART GALLERY

Titivillus

Recommended Posts

Apologies if this has been posted somewhere here in FPN before..

It was a frustrating day - like 'hitting a brickwall'

And I set out to sketch a brick wall, (how literal ! )

Then as each brick got drawn in, the frustration slowly kinda dissipated.....

Then started rendering the shadows....

Then the pockmarks ...

Then one red Colour pencil...

Then I realized a brick is never one uniform shade of Colour ....

And no two bricks are ever the same shade, even from the same kiln...

A6 size

Osmiroid sketch pen.

Pelikan brilliant black.

Conqueror Laid 100g, Cream, watermarked

I can still remember exactly where my nib first touched the paper.

... 671 crafted ... one at a time ... ☺️

Wow, Matias, those are truly amazing. Do you work as an illustrator or something. If not, you should. The top one reminds me of something out of the Beatles animated film, Yellow Submarine. Again, great work.

My amateurish contribution, a carriage and a treasure box seen in a movie some time ago.

The sketch was done using my Lamy Vista with Lamy blue ink (while watching the movie  )

This was drawn on Moleskine notebook, size A4. Pilot/Namiki Vanishing Point, fine nib, and Noodler's 'Black Eel' ink were used. I like this fountain pen a lot.

Choen says"ok ok too much line shading",I completely disagree !

Looks just fine to me.

It's a good thing too add some "body"to a outline drawing,it's your light & shade when using a pen, adding roundness to your forms & makes for a more finished, sophisticated drawing.

Yer nice work choen & timely it being the jubilee celebrations today.Whilst I am no royalist myself, I have spent the day watching others celebrate this with gusto.

I suppose I should expect a counter reaction from the colonies!

Hi!

In the thread on Rome Burning I promised to do some drawings using this unique ink. I have still not found a way to use the effects of the ink (yellowish brown turns to lucid purplish blue when washed with water) in art composition in a successful way. The paper has to be put underwater, or under running water for this effect to take place. A standard waterwash with a brush isn't enough to initiate the colour-change. I used it in the drawing below without experimenting with this colour-change, it is the yellowish-brown colour.

Here is a Nightmare Cityscape inspired by the book Perdido Street Station by author China Miéville.

post-55756-0-16716400-1339381667.jpg

The inks are Rome Burning (yellow-brown), Burma Road Brown (brownish green), Diamine Damson (purple) and black (Noodlers and Pentel brush pen black). I also used waterwashes. The gray is Noodler's black. I do like a black that turns gray, not any other colour, when diluted (sic).

Meandering among monsters, bottles of ink, teeth, tentacles, old pens and various notebooks…

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
