One handwriting style vs Many handwriting styles

I was wondering if there are people out there who use the same handwriting style almost all the time except when they need to print. I have never been able to develop a unique style. Growing up, I would always try to copy other people's pen holding style to see if I could do the same. As a result, my handwriting style would look similar to the other people. Only recently have I been able to use the same handwriting for many many pages ("French cursive-ish" in my journal). And now I'm trying italic.

I think it's a plus if one can use different style in most cases, but when I have to think a lot to decide which style I want to use for a letter to my wife...

Don't think, just write. You want a script of your own, not just adapting a script and saying that it's yours. But there's nothing wrong with that either, but from what you said, I doubt that is what you want to do.

I cannot make my hand do anything it doesn't want to do, or even write consistently. A paragraph will contain capital letters written two different ways, such as printed F and cursive F. Any letters that differ in cursive, italic and print will differ, especially r and s. Different pens, different handwriting. Personal letters change pens and so change penmanship throughout.

In graphology this probably means I'm a scatterbrain.

Let there be light. Then let there be a cat, a cocktail, and a good book.

I like your idea. It's similar to this quote in the photography world:

"All you need to take the most beautiful pictures in the world is a simple Praktika with a 50 mm lens.

Stop wasting your time talking cameras, and go take pictures!"

Definitely true. Different pens = different handwriting. I recently found out that I write much better because I have more control if I use an italic nib. I still use a round nib if I need to take notes fast, and where beauty if not important.

FPs have fancied up my writing, especially italics. Fast writing, not so much. I don't have a sample of scribble.

Aunt Jill,

Those are great writings

I'm a user, baby.

We love what we do not possess. Plato, probably about pens.
