Have you looked at the Clairefontaine Pollen paper?

Have you looked at the Clairefontaine Pollen paper?

I've heard rumors that Exaclair only has the cardstock of the Clairefontaine Pollen. There is a lighter weight paper, but it's not imported to the US. At least, not yet.

Tis a shame, as I'd love to try it.

Wow! Thanks for the great review! Very informative. Sounds like there are a couple of papers I would like to check out, especially the linen.

I found a couple sites that have some of the paper - but not many colors. The line has 44 colors, but at best I found a couple places with maybe 8. I've contacted Clairefontaine though, and hope to receive and answer soon!

There are a couple other places - Paradise Pen for one - who carry the cardstock, but again - limited range of colors.

But I am VERY interested in trying the Pollen line because I love writing on the Clairefontaine that I have, and I suspect even the colored paper is going to be fp friendly with the same lovely surface.

I sent an email to Brian Goulet (no affiliation etc.) to see what he could tell me about the Pollen paper. I sent him the link to this thread too, so maybe he can post more info for all of us.

Here's what's up. Exaclair (the only US importer for Clairefontaine) only imports the 210g cardstock, and 100g vellum (semi-transparent) in A4 size. Clairefontaine does have 120g A4 sheets, but they would have to be directly ordered from France. I'd looked into this before, and even did a poll to see what colors would be of interest: https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/index.php?/topic/144150-clairefontaine-triomphe-pollen-paper-colors/page__p__1434379__hl__pollen__fromsearch__1entry1434379

What was the showstopper was the quantity. To buy the Pollen directly from France, I would need to purchase a minimum of 10 packs of 50 sheets, which list for $15.26/pack. There are 40+ colors to choose from, which makes ordering in bulk on speculation nearly impossible for me. Check it out on page 288 of the Clairefontaine online catalog: http://clairefontaine-rhodia-2010.e-catalogues.info/index.asp

What I've considered doing is getting a bunch of Ivory Pollen in 120g A4, since this would be the closest thing to off-white Triomphe (a much requested item that unfortunately doesn't exist) out there. I just haven't gotten it yet because of the time it takes to come in (2-4 months), and the high cost-per-sheet that it comes out to be. If you reeeeally want it though, I'm more than happy to order it directly from France for you.

I definitely want the Ivory because it goes so well with so many other colors.

I'll have to take a look again at the Pollen colors - here the direct Pollen site: http://www.clairefontaine-pollen.com/the-color-papers/papers-colors-A4-210x297-120g.html

But I'll go for a few other colors too. Pity it has to be in 50 sheets at a time :/ But as I said earlier - it's bound to be lovely.

I'll get back to you on the colors I want, but I am definitely in should you make an order!

Thank you so much!

I'm not 100% certain I will be ordering any of the Pollen from France. I've never actually used this 120g stuff, though I'm told it's nice. Note the pack size is 50 sheets, but I have to order 10 packs....I'm not entirely sure if that's 10 packs overall or 10 packs of each color, I'll have to check. Either way, if there's enough interest in it to make it worth everyone's while, then I'll go for it.

It seems like there is, I know personally I'd like to get my hands on some of the Pollen "Vivid" paper mainly because it's so hard to find black paper of good quality.
