Noodler's Army Green Next To A Penny.

Recommended Posts

When I write with Noodler's Army Green next to my JH Coffee in my Eccolo journal, it makes the latter look almost like a salted sakura petal color.

Darker lines look sort of similar to PR's Avocado, but then again, I haven't used that one in a while. (I prefer lighter colors)

Nib: Nakaya fine soft-flex.

I designed the letter "N" on this review.

Hana, your writing is beautiful and you have inspired me to give Army Green a try with a flexible nib. It looks lovely in your examples.

What pens have power ink feeds with turbos to supply enough ink for that style of writing?

Honestly, nice writing. The wild "N" is a trophy letter. Thanks for showing.

I'm trying out some NAG and it's a little flat for me--but it's much nicer in your flex nib.

It's actually easier for me to do this type of writing (using FP inks) with a fountain pen than a dip-pen. With a dip-ink, I sometimes run out of ink mid-flourishing! Very frustrating.

I used my Nakaya with the goldfish converter for this. It doesn't hold much ink at all--which is actually perfect for me, because I like changing ink colors every other day or so. (But it does hold much more than a dip-pen without gushing out all over the place!)

I think I like lighter colors because I can see more variations with a flex. I don't think I got quite why before your comment. Thank you for the revelation!

Oooooo! Kingyo converter

Can you tell me exactly what kind of nib you got from Nakaya? Maybe someday I might have enough money saved up to get one :)

I think I got the extra fine soft flex, but they also ground it to suit my writing till I was satisfied.. So I'm not quite sure what it's called. "Hana-flex"? lol.

I think it's very much worth visiting in person. They may give you a few surprises!

A Nakaya is next on my list. The saving is very painful. ;) I adore the goldfish converter. You are making me realize that I must absolutely get one.

I have a nice little vintage flex that I bought from Griz, I am going to load it up with some Army Green. It will not look as fine as your work, but it will be fun to play with!

That's about the prettiest ink review I've ever seen. ;) Looks pretty similar to the Alt-Goldgrun I just got, to my eye...

Wow! This ink was just made for flex nibs, what a beautiful example! Your "N" design is wonderful, as is the rest of your writing. Hope you'll continue to do ink reviews. :)

Best, Ann

I've seen Alt Goldgrun on the computer screen, too, and it does look like this color--on the computer screen. I've not compared them IRL, so.. who knows?

And thank you for your compliment.

Oh, I admire your calligraphy so much! So even, so refined!

I noticed it was your birthday more than a week ago, but I was too new (to the forum) and shy to wish you a happy birthday-- So happy belated birthday!

Thank you for your comments!

Alt Gold-gruen is less saturated than the inks I've become accustomed to seeing from Noodlers. It's a fairly light ink.

Hana, there is an italic penmanship contest going on in the "Penmanship" forum, I hope you will participate!

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

There is still chemistry for processing regular chrome (positive) films like Kodak Ektachrome and Fuji Velvia, but Kodachrome was a completely different and multistep beast.
    • Ceilidh
Ah, but how to get it processed - that is the question. I believe that the last machine able to run K-14 (Kodachrome processing) ceased to operate some 15 or so years ago. Perhaps the film will be worth something as a curiosity in my estate sale when I die. 😺

Take a lot of photos!   If the film has deteriorated or 'gone off' in any way, you can use that as a 'feature' to take 'arty' pictures - whether of landmarks, or people, or whatever.
