Ciak Notebooks

Hi, everyone. I've only just heard of these notebooks, but my local Borders doesn't stock them and I can't find a source online. I've seen them on UK Ebay, but with shipping, you end up paying about $30 for a notebook, and even I'm not that nuts. So, does anyone by any chance have a (relatively cheap) US source for these? TIA,

David

Try this site:

Kate's Paperie

I want to thank you both for giving me another journal to drool over...

I wonder if their paper handles a fountain pen better than Moleskines.

Oh these were beautiful notebooks when I saw them at Kate's Paperiere. I just didn't like the rubberband in the the middle.

Hi David,

Try www.thejournalshop.com which is a U.K based supplier but will ship to the States. Yes you will pay $30 plus for one of these, they are not cheap. However I use these and in my opinion they are worth every penny. They are softbound but using lovely bonded leather so are very tough and look and feel lovely. The paper is top quality florentine stock and very thick and smooth (110g). It is far superior to the Moleskine paper and is a delight to write on with a fountain pen with no bleed through. I think the Moleskines paper quality is atrocious. I bought one and vowed never to buy one again.

Amazon.com used to have them but they appear to be unavailable (search under "Ciak"). Perhaps they'll become available soon.

Jenni Bick Bookbinding has them for $17-$21 but apparantly only the ones with multi-colored pages (which I dislike).

http://www.jennibick.com/ciak.html

They have just appeared at Border's stores, you might check back sometime. They resell Ciaks under the name "PaperChase" - you'll see PaperChase stamped on the back cover but also you'll see "Ciak" stamped on the bottom of the spine. They appear to have different cover colors at Borders (baby blue instead of black and mustard colors, the latter is what I have).

You can find them by various eBay sellers at times, I guess that's been said already. I can't recall where I bought mine but I believe it was eBay. The seller "The Art of Beautiful Living" is selling them - know nothing about them.

Hi,

I offer Ciak journals and planners both on eBay and on my website www.journalingarts.com. My eBay store used to be The Art of Beautiful Living but has since been changed to Journaling-Arts to be consistent with my website. My eBay user ID is beauty-of-art.

I usually have most of the Ciak styles and colors in stock including ivory lined, mulitcolor and sketchbook in the 3" x 5", 5" x 7" and 6" x 8" sketchbooks. If there is something you are looking for that I don't have in my stores, I am happy to order it.

I would love to help you find the Ciak you are looking for. Feel free to contact me any time.

Hi David,

You can find Ciak journals, notebooks and planners at www.journalingarts.com. Shipping in the US is reasonable and you can have one delivered to your door for a little under $20.

I hope this helps.

TheJournalShop has a running offer where you get your third notebook (cheapest one if you ordered different kinds) for free. Which, for me (shipping to the Netherlands) means it's about the same as free shipping costs. By the way, they'll be having the new CIAKs in a week or so! Can't wait to try out some of those.

I bought a Ciak notebook from Barnes & Noble, and I'm sorry to say that it is "less" fountain pen friendly than the worst Moleskine I have written on. The paper on the Ciak is thicker than the Moleskine, but it bleeds and soaks up fountain pen ink.

I will not buy Ciak for fountain pen again.

Thanks
