Waterman South Seas Blue Review

Hi Guys,

I'm new to the board and this is my first post. WSSB is my first bottled ink, and before that I used various cartridges. Anyway, I should get on with the review :headsmack:

This is a turquoise ink, not as dark as Lamy Turquoise, but has a streak of green which you don't usually get in the Lamy. There is some shading, which I like. I tried it in a Lamy Safari Medium nib. There was no bleedthrough, but I tried it on the Asda 150gsm squared notebook paper. I have yet to buy a block of Clairefontaine or Rhodia, but I imagine that the ink is pretty well behaved on them as well. I would say the ink has quite a good flow, it's not too wet, but not too dry. Overall, I think that this is an awesome ink whcih can be used everyday without any worries!

Thanks for reading my review!

P.S Could you reccomend some other cool coloured ink that I can buy in the UK? I would not like to order online though. Thanks in advance for any suggesetions!

PP.S I will post scans later if I can.

I got a free bottle of South Sea Blue a couple weeks ago. It was a little bright for normal writing, so I mixed some of it about 1:1 (sorta randomly) with Waterman's Florida Blue, which sometimes seems dull to me.

I like the mixed color. The hint of turquoise/green makes it stand out from the page more than FB, but it's not quite so silly as SSB.

I bought a Parker 61 last weekend which arrived ready-filled with a gorgeous greeny blue.

Luckily, the seller knew what the ink was, which is how I know that I, too, like Waterman South Sea Blue.
