Rohrer&Klingner Antiktusche (antique ink)

Okay, so I have stumbled onto a long dead thread here. I was wondering about using inks from the Antiktusche range in rotring ArtPens and Isographs. The Rohrer & Klingner website seems to suggest that is possible. Does anyone have experience with that?

Okay, I used to have the Letter Writers Alliance and The Snail Mail Exchange in here. Somehow, my browsers settings and the forum's settings work together to prevent that from being the case at the moment. Whenever I try to update my signature, the whole process breakls down. So. Whatever.

Isn't the ink Rotring supplies for their Isograph at least pigment based?

Pigment by itself is not the culprit, it is the binder. In this case the binder is Acrylic which is waterproof (and very hard) once dry. Inks like these (e.g. India ink) clog up fountain pens. Some pigment based inks use soluble binders that can be reformulated and therefore are not waterproof.

The Isograph pens can be unclogged by running a thin needle through the opening of the 'nib' (the nib is essentially a very thin tube). The narrow channels in the feed, once clogged, are much harder to clean without damaging the feed.

So, just to be clear: You are telling me, acrylic inks kill fountain pens, but the Isograph can be saved, provided I have a thin needle?

Not sure about all acrylic inks but definitely India ink works in them. The thin needle comes with the Isograph pen set :-)

These ink are for calligraphy dip pens only. This mark has FP ink and that is clearly mentioned and I recenly bought one ink "sepia ink" for Fp. That is a very saturated ink too and need to clean the pen frequently when using this ink. :)
