Will the nibs be replaceable? Also, I was curious about what motivated you to start this project to design a new fountain pen?

yes, the nib will be very easy to be replaced, just twist the grip section off, pull out the nib..

We are a writing instrument maker for over 20 years, mainly OEM business. twsbi is to start our own brand, twsbi venezia series metal pen (http://store.pchome.com.tw/multipen/ just for your reference, sorry it is in Chinese in Taiwan) was my first attemp, but it was critisized by user saying it has no attractive features....hense the discussion start as a new brand what pen design will user like to have...

Start thinking your wish list for our third project.... The second project of vacuum filling pen is on the way, hahaha!

Maybe a demonstrator lever or button filler with a crystal clear sac? (At least 1/2 in jest.)

you mean the piston system mechanism in clear material? Well, by PC (same material as body) is possible, but current one we use POM has sort of self lubrication feeling, reduce the friction, so it is more suitable for moving mechanism parts.

No, I mean a lever filling system like vintage Esterbrook J series pens have, or button fillers like the Merlin 33. Take a look at Richard Binder's filler reference page http://www.richardsp...ref/fillers.htm and look under 'Button' and 'Lever'. Both use a device to compress and release a flexible sac. About the only way it would make an interesting demonstrator would be if the sac was completely transparent and reasonably resistant to staining. I'm not sure that such a sac is available. I've never seen anything like this, the clear sac probably isn't practical. But this design would take a classic FP filling system and turn it into a demonstrator in the spirit of your first two TWSBI pens.

The up side is that there aren't very many lever/button fillers made today; add that to the the clear demonstrator look and you would have something completely unique. And you could do something interesting with the pressure bar, chrome, patterns on the bar, etc. A leverless filler would be in the same vain.

Downside, lever fillers are not that popular, and the technical issue might make the design not cost effective to manufacture.

Hope that explains what I meant.

Now I see what you are saying. it seemed sac is made by kind of rubber compound. As I know it is colored, no clear one, and to be not color stained present even more difficult I believe.

You are right about up and down side. Without a right number it is difficult to spen money on it.

In anyhow, thank you for your suggestion.

As far as colors, if this takes off (as I believe it will), how about many, many available colors? Give the Lamy and their Safari a run for their money! That's the ticket! :clap1:

alumimium piston, and more colors of barrel will come gradually.

Cheers.

Speedy, is the nib available in EF (0.5mm line) or EEF (0.4mm) for those of us who like fine nibs? :)

We only have M, F, EF, no EEF. pls refer my post about linewidth

Speedy, actually, your chart in that post shows the availability of a B nib, is that not correct anymore?

Watching this come together has been fascinating. Congrats, speedy, for making this happen and catching a well deserved award. The first of many, I'm sure.

Frankly, I don't care for demonstrators -- it's like looking in a stranger's sock drawer. But this is a pen of an other color. I'm in the queue and shuffling toward the sale date.

Oh yes, B was on the chart. It was what we set up for future B nib specification, sorry I did not make it clear.

For future designs, I'll like to see brighter or more interesting colours, like purple, yellow and orange. I'm also very fond of pens with striations, like the Pelikan white tortoise and the Parker Vacumatic, so if you can revive that look, power to you! And I'll love to have a XXF nib that writes a 0.3-0.4mm line. That's my wish list for now, Speedy! Thank you and your colleagues for the great work, and for listening to us.

About the linewidth pls refer my post of http://www.bbs.twsbi.com/viewthread.php?tid=195&extra=page%3D1 actually F nib is 0.3-0.4mm already.

We will make more colors in near futures. The striation design require special production process, it is not very easy to to do. it is actually two layers...; base is single color, 2nd layer is the patten design.

It was decided long time ago that there will not FPN edition, because I don't want people to think I intend to use FPN mark to make money.

I decide not to make any special edition until people get first production batch and say the pen is good, then we will consider some special edition. How about reddot award limited edition? hahaha!

red dot award limited edition? :) I like the sound of that... Would just have to clear that with the red dot organization methinks but it would be a cool way to commemorate the award and your fine achievement.

Alternatively you could number each pen from the first batch individually or mark them with something like "First production run of xxxx pens". Or give them a name that signifies something like a forerunner or a point man and engrave that into the pen either in english or as a pictogram.

Ahhh that makes sense!

Then another question:

Are you going to have date codes on the pen or not?

I like the "First Production" idea.

date code, I don't have that plan in mind at the moment. It seemed this coding is not popular on fountain pen??

We have to consider we may not have enough space to put too much wording though.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
