Parker 75 Eye Candy - Limited Additions

Hi Everyone,

This is the 1st of the Parker 75 Limited Additions. The Parker 75 Spanish Treasure Fleet 1715 was indroduced in November of 1965, Just a year after the introduction of the 75 and was the 1st limited addition offered by any pen company. Parker made these pens from the silver recovered from the sunken ships of the Spanish Treasure Fleet of 1715 and today is the holly grail of Parker collectors. Parker did not number these pens, but Parker records show that 4,821 were made. Of the 3 that I have, 2 came out of the Parker research dept. and 1 came out of the holdings of a former Parker salesman. These are new and uninked.

Here are some pictures of the elusive Parker Spanish Treasure for your veiwing enjoyment.

While you can not read the hang tag, the one says it has a fine semi-flex nib and sold for $75 in 1965

Paperwork included with the Spanish Treasure. 1 of the pens that came out of Parkers research dept. had a extra invoice paper stating that " for presentation to Spanish & Mexican worlds who will attend the Woodward and Lathrop " I have no idea what it means, but I guess they never got this pen.

Recovered cobb coin from the Spanish Fleet. These were the coins used to make this Limited Addition. All most all the coins used to make these pens were worn so badly from 250 years in the ocean, that there only value was in the silver content. These were minted in Mexico and cut to weigh 6 grams apeice.

While Parker was using flat tassies when these were made, they made these with dished tassies with the mint mark of Mexico on the cap tassie and the eagle of purity on the barrel tassie

And last but not least, the impressive lettering on the cap band saying this is a Parker Spanish Treasure Fleet 1715

Absolutely beautiful stuff, Parkercrazy, as is the case with the other 75 threads that you've already posted. B)

I'm looking for a 75 to add to my general collection at some point, but I think I'll focus on the more common (read cheaper) ones.

Hey Parkercrazy Francis

gobsmacked is a bit like the guy above, only smacking himself in the mouth, (gob is slang for mouth)

But here is a more academic explanation: GobSmacked

Basically your pictues of your pen collection just leave me speechless, then when you roll out not one but three limited editions................ WOW

Hi Jim,

Thank you for adding a new word to my vocabulary. :eureka: :eureka: There is a thread going on the Chat board about proper english and using words in a sentence. I'm thinking that if I used the word GobSmacked in a converstation here in the US, people really would think I am Crazy. Maybe that I am out of touch with modern things. :ltcapd: :ltcapd:

Hi Griz,

If I were to sell that Spanish Treasure to you for $160, You would tell the world about the great price you got it for from Parkercrazy, and then the whole world would know that I am crazy, so to keep you from telling people a million times how you got such a great deal, I will just keep it. Just Looking out for your best interest. :roflmho: :roflmho: :roflmho:

Parkercrazy I am, but not Gobsmacked, Francis

FWIW, $75 in 1965 had the buying power of $484.52 today (price adjustment courtesy of the U.S. Dept. Of Labor Inflation Calculator).

YMMV

Would you happen to be selling one these pens from the sunken Spanish fleet?

If so, for how much?

Hi Andreseparis 83,

Not quite ready to sell any Parker 75 items. They are my 1st love right now, but maybe some time in the future.

The Spanish Treasure 75's are hard to come by, but if should find one for sale, be prepared to pay between $1000 and $2000 for one that still has the oringinal packaging.

Wish you luck in your search for one of these.

I know this is an older post but I was wondering where I could find pricing information. I essentially have this exact set mint in the box with the cardboard sleeve and 1965 newspaper articles about its release in my city. We only received 23 here according to the article.
