Michigan Pen Store?

Is there a good pen store (other than Paradise Pen or the Montblanc stores) in Michigan? I've read a review for a good pen store in Cleveland, OH, but so far that's the closest one I've found.

Pam Braun runs Oscar Braun's and has a nice selection of pens from a variety of manufacturers. Not a fancy store, but she has a great assortment of pens at great prices. She's in Lincoln Park, off of I-696 about halfway between the Southfield Freeway and I-75. Call ahead to make sure she's open, I'm not sure what her regular hours are...and bring cash or a checkbook- no credit cards!

By the way, what store in Cleveland did you read about? I'm there often, I didn't realize they still had a pen shop...

best,

Doug

As Doug said, Oscar Braun is a good pen store. There's also a small pen store in the Penobscot Building in downtown Detroit, but I keep forgetting the name.

Hi Anne,

The only shop I'm familiar with is Pam's (Oscar Braun). I've talked to her on the phone but haven't visited the shop yet. FYI, Pear Tree Pens, which used to be in Ann Arbor, is in Iowa now. Ryan's great to deal with online - just wish they were still in our area.

The store in Downtown Detroit is called PenzDetroiT.

333 W Fort

Detroit, Michigan 48226

On the corner of Washington Bvld and Fort St. It is a store front in a parking garage. Millions of pens but ink selection is limited. They carry mostly Diamine, Private Reserve, Aurora, Waterman, and Pelikan. I did ask if Alex could get certain colors for me and he said that he was placing an order in a day or two and would get the colors I asked for. Price wise, very reasonable and competive with online store prices. When you factor in the cost of shipping, it was cheaper to buy 1-3 bottles of ink from Alex them pay for shipping and them wait for your ink to arrive. I stop in about every 2 weeks to get something new. he is looking into getting Noodler's products.

Also,

Paradise Pens

Somerset Collection North

2800 West Big Beaver Rd

Troy, MI 48084

I found this store to be extremely expensive and over priced. I couldn't even afford a bottle of ink from them. They also don't carry Diamine, Private Reserve, or Noodler's.

Thanks for the tip about PenzDetroit. A pen store used to be located in the Penobscot Building, but it's gone now. Maybe it moved to 333 West Fort. I'll check it out.

Ray
