Inkjet-printable CD/DVD

 Having been copying some data to an inkjet-printable blank DVD-R, I needed to write something on it to remind me of the content (I wasn't going to bother getting the printer all set up to do it). I usually keep a CD/DVD marker pen in a cup on the desk, but had misplaced it. One of my Lamys was at hand, so I tentatively tried writing on the printable surface of the DVD with the Lamy. Yay! Instant success! And a much finer line than the marker puts down. I guess it works because the surface of the printable CDs and DVDs is already to set up to take ink, albeit from a printer rather than a pen.  I just thought it might be an idea to pass this on, but apologies if it has already been covered. I did do a search, but nothing came up.

That's interesting. Just make sure not to press too hard, because the top of the disc is pretty soft compared to the bottom. You will see your writing pressing into the disc ink if you write too hard...makes a nice coaster though.

Inked:

Pelikan m205 black 0.9ci/F Italifine (Diamine Damson);

Aurora 88 nikargenta (Iroshizuku Kon-Peki);

Pelikan 140 Steno (J Herbin Lie de Thé)

Wow! I usually use a Sharpie.

(Another instance where FP's are proved superior to all other writing instruments)

Soli Deo Gloria!

I've done this and my experience tells me to use a broadish nib (ball tip, no crisp italics please) with a smooth and wet ink flow. With a fine nib and drier inks, I tended to scratch the paper-like veneer on the writing surface of the CD/DVD. The surface is as thin as correction tape. Another great but inexpensive alternative would be the Sailor Profit Brush Pen.
