What's the procedure for tightening a PFM V cap clip? Is it difficult and are specific tools required? Thanks in advance.

You need to remove the inner cap, P51 clutch removal tool can do this

The spring behind the inner cap at the top can then be accessed to be adjusted for tightening of the clip itself.

The best approach would be as described by Eric. I don't have the tool to pull the inner cap of pens, so I have used a simpler procedure successfully on other pens but have never done it on a PFM V. I read about the process years ago and it has worked for me.

If the adjusment needed is only slight, you can use a small flat blade screwdriver and your hands to "tweak" the clip enough to touch the cap again. If you are right handed, grip the clip with your left hand, putting your thumb on the very end of the clip and press against the cap. Then with your right hand. place the end of the flat blade screwdriver under the middle of the clip. Put slight upward pressure to lift the center of the clip. You are attempting to make the clip a little more curved without damaging its looks. Release and check to see if it was enough. This can be done in very small steps to minimize risk of damaging the pen. You have to be careful not to twist the screwdriver causing the blade to create a dent on the cap beneath the clip.

You might want to practice on an older, less expensive pen first, if you have one. If it sounds too risky, then get the tool to pull the inner cap or send it off to someone who has the tool.

I think the PFM has a spring-loaded clip, so the problem probably lies with the spring, not the clip. If the spring is the culprit, you'll have to follow the first reply's recommendation and pull the cap.

The recommendation on bending the clip, though, can work on pens where the problem isn't with the spring.

Thanks for the replies. It's only a little loose at the moment. Not sure I fancy attempting to pull the inner cap as I have never done this before and I don't have the right tools. May be best to wait until it requires restoration again and send it to an accomplished repairer.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
