What Does Your Handwriting Look Like

I forced myself to learn cursive a few months ago after my print became horribly horrible. It's still hard to read, but I'm trying to make my letters less cramped and inconsistent. Hopefully that will do the trick.

The passage is from the Australian Constitution, by the way. Doesn't quite roll off the tongue like 'We the people' does.

Pilot Prera with a Fine nib, Namiki black ink

I really wish I could improve the legibility of my handwriting. =/

I can read it just fine! i think it's awesome! When compared to my writing i can only sigh..... i have looked everywhere for cursive lessons, i have tried "iampeth.com", but i find it tiring to red 20 pages on how to write in the bussines hand.....in case you havent seen my picture, i am not very good at writing in cursive, but i am OK with print.

Here's a specimen of my everyday handwriting, written at speed a couple of minutes ago. Apologies for the slightly blurry photograph.

all the best,

Thank you! I hope that you'll enjoy the Safari. They give great value for the cost, I think.

Apotheosis,

I like your distinctive majuscule 'A' and the reversed looped descender on your minuscule 'f'

I have had fear of staining in my Pelikans. Have you washed out the BSB yet? Was there a stain on the barrel?

Hello, late to the game. Here's a couple of my samples. Critiques are welcome. :happyberet:

OK! Here goes... Firstly, I apologise for the rubbish camera shot. i can't figure out how to make my scanner work! Please, all of you, give me some input. My writing is ok, I think, but its not great, and I want it to be distinctive and make people go 'Oooohhh!' so fire away (esp you, Caliken!)

Cheers all.

In particular what do I have to do to make it look more like this? This is the style I aspire to...

I think that this is very attractive, individual handwriting. It is totally legible, and very clear with sensible inter-line spacing and is very even overall. Viewed from a couple of feet, the impression of the page is equally good.

You mentioned inconsistency and this is certainly a small thing which would be easy to put right. You are tending to move between a Roman (Foundational) influence and an Italic one - as here

http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd289/caliken_2007/NN3.jpg

The first is Roman Foundational construction and the second an upright Italic. Both look fine in your writing but a firm choice between one or the other in the same piece of writing, would create more consistency.

The choice between a straight 'd' and a curved one is a little different. IMO both sit comfortably within your writing.

I really like this handwriting  and the above comments are just a couple of small, personal observations.

Minuscule Foundational and Italic are superb scripts but they don't mix!

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
