A friend's father recently passed away. He was the original proud owner of this Minox B camera. Yes, that's the original warranty card with serial number.

I've been asked to find a good home for this. His military Shaeffer pens (Tucky set) went to Australia quickly when put on sale. Who knows where this will go in the world, but FPNers get the first whack at it. Then it's off to EBay if no takers.

Will post for 1 week here then will move on. So, right now -- it's exclusive to you!

$550.00. Negotiable.

All questions that can be answered will be.

Good luck!

I think it'll be a treat for someone's collection. A definitive piece to be sure. It's choice.

I would love this camera, but can't afford any new purchases at the moment.

Its a cute camera, I used to own 3 at one point.. Ended up going with the Leica system (M6/M7/MP).

The minox film is increasingly rare to find, and even harder to get developed. You used to be able to send it to them in pre-paid envelopes, but I don't know if they still sell/develop the film.

Its nice that the camera has the chain with focus beads.. Its fun to show people how to use it.

It's going to make a great addition to a collection. :)

Good to hear your first-hand experience with it Markc. This set has a box marked "MAR 1965" of film. The "package has 2 cartridges 50 exposures per cartridge"

The date "MAR 1965" refers to when the film was considered out of date. You can use out of date film and most of the time you will see very little difference in quality, if the film has been stored in a cool. dry place.

JDR: Thanks for the feedback. Good to know for potential bidder(s). It could be a collector OR a user.

Again, good info. either way.

What a great collection! I own two of these fascinating little cameras. Of interest to potential buyers/bidders who would like to use the camera: there is a company in Oregon called Blue Moon Camera and Machine who develops and sells film for the Minox (no affiliation, just a happy customer), and one called Frugal Photographer (I have not used this company) who also sells film and develops (but I think Blue Moon is a little less expensive for developing). Like Markc, I'm not sure about Minox's support of the camera these days (re: film/development).

For those who are a little adventurous or darkroom savvy, there are several forums explaining how to slit readily available 35mm film into 2 long strips (which are then cut in half), load it into used Minox cartridges (one roll of 36exp 35mm will render 4 rolls of 40 exposure Minox film!), and then develop your own film (in the Minox Daylight Developing Tank, or in a traditional developing tank with the proper reel). You then scan the resulting negatives to your computer and print! A bit of effort required, yes, but it breathes new life into these beauties and the process is kind of cool.

Ogwen: Really good info.

Many times: FPNers are have hobbies they're just as passionate about outside of fountain pens. That's why posting here first. Lots of eyes on this. Let's lower the price by $50.00 for an asking price of $500.00 even. We'll pay the shipping and insure it. Still negotiable, but this will have to move on to E-Bay in 2 days if no FPNers are interested.

Thanks for your interest.

Checked the Minox site and they are still in business and still making their small cartridge cameras. So, I would guess film and processing is going to be around for a while yet.

Unlike the Minolta miniture film which is long gone and even the empty cassettes are going for a rediculous amount.

YMMV

I recognize this camera from a trip with a French lady to Boston in 1978. She took all her snapshots with it and was quite proud of it. There is a Minox digital camera designed to look something like the original but I am sure real aficionados would not be interested in it.

Seller has done some research and feels the price has been unwittingly set high.

Therefore, 40% reduction in price to $300.00.

Will extend this post until Sun, February 27, 2010 for reply. Then, with regret, off to Ebay if no takers.
