Best online pen store (Europe): which ?

Dear All,

I'm very happy to join this fountain pen enthusiasts community. The forum, at a first glance, is an relly rich mine of hints and news . . . really exiciting !

So I want to ask your opinion regarding where to find the best online shop (best= best price/quality ratio) in the Web.

I'm writing from Italy and I would be happy if there were other italian " amanti della stilografica" who joined this community.

Thanks for your help.

Giulio

And I think most people would say that ebay is the best place for buying pens! The exceptions I've noticed are-

- Go to Andy's Pens to buy Sailors, especially if you are in Europe

- Go to Richards pens for Pelikans (especially an F or XF) or if you want a stub or Italic etc

- PM Winedoc on this forum if you want a Danitrio Raw (which currently everyone does - see the review section of the site to see why.)

In general, in Europe, the best online stores other than ebay are probably www.andys-pens.ukhome.net/ and www.thewritingdesk.co.uk

Thank you, meanwhile, for your recommendation. BTW, we sell Sailor pens too! Also, if there's something you don't see on our website, please ask us as we can often get other items.

giuco, I've read good things about Giardino Italiano in your own country!

As for eBay, it's fine as long as you buy from a reputable seller. That way if you have a complaint you can be sure it will be properly dealt with.

Good luck and happy hunting,

Martin

Yes - if I wanted any sort of Parker, Waterman, or Rotring, from a Core to an Edison, Pen seller from France is the first person whose stock I'd check. He's even one of the few people on ebay I'd trust to sell me a genuine Sonnet!

You're reviving a very old thread here M. Rene, but anyway; I've used The Writing Desk and Pelikan Pens UK, and Andy's Pens, and received really excellent service from all of them.

Pelikan Pens has managed to get a special stock of BB nibs from Pelikan, too.

Too many pens, too little time!

Yep, The Writing Desk & Cultpens are the one's I've found to be rather good. Mr Pen also deserves a mention, as it is the only shop selling Peter Ford's Italix range.

Bureau Direct is another UK site I've used. They do not have such a great range of pens, but are rather good for paper, inks and other stationery items.

I haven't see www.novelli.it mentioned yet, and Marco often has the best prices on both Italian pens and, strangely enough, on Pelikans. His service is outstanding. I have also had outstanding service from La Couronne du Comte.

I had great service from La Couronne du Comte, which frequently has specials that are hard to beat and you can find coupons online. They have the best prices I've seen in GvFC.

I also had a great experience with Zeichen Center Ebeling (Berlin), probably the best prices on pelikans. They're an arts supply store, but carry a good range of pens.

Finally, IguanaSell also provides excellent service, in my opinion.

I made two separate orders with La Couronne de Comte, and on both occasions they had some item missing from the order. That's a bit frustrating. Granted, they did reimburse the missing item, but still, it's been frustrating.

I have had great success with Italpens and Martemodena, both Italian sites.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
