Queen Elizabeth I's signature sure was a neat bit of quillwork. For comparison; the signature of the current Queen Elizabeth:

My official signature has my first name, middle initial and last name, plus a logo that features a stylized version of my initials. If I have to initial something, I use the logo.

I'm not going to post it here because it IS my official signature.

My official signature and my casual signature are identical and I am not sure which looks worse. Therefore, I will not post mine because I could not handle the shame and embarrassment.

On a similar note, I once knew a chief petty officer that signed off on plane check lists with a scrawl that looked like a three-year-old pretending to write cursive. I called him on it once and he explained that the aircraft kept coming back with so many extra holes in it that it would surely cease to be before too long and he didn't want the Navy to take its cost out of his pay. I had to admit that his explanation made more sense than most things in that particular time period.

For me the signature is always just the cursive of my name done a little faster than usual.

For work I have to initial quite a few things throughout the course of any given day, which has

led me to make my initials snappy looking.

Wise choice!

Everyone should be aware that identity theft is a possibility. Be careful about what you post.

Oh no kidding. Exactly what I thought when I saw the topic. Am I really going to post my ***LEGAL*** signature on the internet?!? NOT! Please, some of the signatures are beautiful, and I am envious of them. But please, take them down, folks.

Mine is basically my first initial and a short dash scribbled out. I think it used to have my full name, but then shrunk down to just my first name, and now just the first letter. Hmm.

Apotheosis--beautiful handwriting and signature. The "L" is intricate and very pretty.

May I introduce you all to the world's most mundane signature, namely, mine. I did it as fast as I could so it's not as artistic as many another's here.

Crazy fantastic. If I had a signature like that I would spend my day searching for things to sign.

Enough of this chocolaty goodness, we've got work to do.

here's what my signature looks like when using a vintage "school pen" xf wet noodle dip pen with the same pressure as i put when normally writing.

(my real signature does not look like that though, as it's made far faster.)

I go by the name Brianetta in real life. When writing to friends, signing cards, etc, this is the signature I use. It's one single stroke.

This thread gives me an idea for another thread. Perhaps we should make a signature thread with a pre-defined pseudonym and make it a sort of game to see what folks can do with it. Might be interesting!

That is an interesting suggestion -- and much safer than posting images of one's real signature for all the world to see.

I second that. An excellent idea. And for a pseudonym I nominate the name John Hancock. Or would that make everybody a forger?
