One day a few weeks ago I was looking at Pilot 78G's on eBay, I noticed that they were offered in B and BB nibs. Now I can't find any trace of the BB nib anymore. What happened? Aren't they being made any longer? Did sumgai buy them all while I blinked?

I have one. They are very nice. Check with Norm Hasse at hisnibs.com. Also Speerbob has carried then and Todd at isellpens.com.

I have one, puchased on eBay from SpeerBob, and, for the price, it's excellent. It gets used all the time for writing in cards, or if I am doing instructional cue cards. Took me a while to get it to work properly. I'm difficult to train.

+1 I got mine from hisnibs. Be aware that these are not rounded BBs - they are 'Italic-ish, stub-like' nibs that vary the line width depending on nib orientation. i.e. Down stroke is wider than side stroke. IIRC the BB has a max line width just over 1mm. -- BR S1

I have found eBay seller pokydaddy (not affiliated) easy to work with, and responsive to questions about availability of specific Pilot pens. I did not query him/her prior to ordering my most recent batch, because I once got some BB nibs, and some people requested refunds, because they wanted B vs BB, and I did not notice until they returned the pens.

+1 I got mine from isellpens.com and it is a stub. It was at first little dry nib, but after working with the nib, now it puts a wet line. As Sandy1 said, down stroke is wider than the side stroke.

A good inexpensive pen to have. I wonder how medium and fine point would write.

i have a fine-pointed 78G, and overall i'm happy with how it writes. it's not an italic nib though, only the B and BB are that in this model apparently; the M and F are ball nibs.

it could be a bit wetter, in my opinion, but it puts down a nice thin line and only seldom skips or hiccups. there's a very little scratchiness against the paper, but that may be because it writes on the dry side. then again it's still a very new pen, and i'm hoping it might smooth out with use.

That is expensive. Try this place. It is less than half the cost of the asking price on eBay.

I came across this place after I purchased mine from other place where I had paid $15.

The price is good, but I don't see the BB nib in their lineup.

If you are looking for a stub then 78G B is the one you are looking for. Checkout the nib pictures of the B nib pen on the site above.
