We had a thread a while ago about out tools etc so I thought I would post a nib knock out block I was able to get done today.

The mini anvil it tapped on the bottom and is then screwed on from the bottom.

It's not a real pen tool 'til it's covered with ink stains!

Good job!

John

Thank you See the little bit of ink dust on the bottom from the test section lol

Is that sort of like "it's not really a project until you bleed on it?"

One of my first knife handles actually had my blood as the primary stain: after I sliced my finger open and got a big smear on it, I decided I might as well even it up while I was looking for the first aid kit. Came out really nice too, though I try not to repeat the process :)

Nicely done!

I'm still of the old drill a hole in a block of wood when you need to school. In fact I think it may be time for a new block of wood, mine's beginning to look like Swiss cheese.

Since this thread is about "Home Made Pen Tools", I thought I would show one of my tools. It was originally made to pick locks at work when some lost keys to a cabinet. I worked in a Bicycle Manufacturing/Custom Paint shop so I made do with items we had around. It's just a Bladed Spoke that I bent and ground as needed.

This is my J-Bar extraction tool to be used with Hemostats. Without this tool most J-Bars would break before I could get them out. With this tool I slide it up under the hook portion of the bar and rotate 90 degrees, lifting the short end of the bar away from the barrel. Then I grab the long end of the bar with the Hemostats and extract the bar, tool and Hemostats together. I haven't broke a J-Bar since!

The one on the bottom is my Lock Pick/J-Bar extractor and the other two are raw versions that are unground.

That would qualify for a "what is this, and what do I do with it" thread Ralph! Nicely creative.

Nice knockout block too Chris. Sure is a heck of a lot prettier than the first one I made! I like the storage for the punches on the end. Helps to keep the bench from getting cluttered.
