Diamine Majestic

Can anyone else comment on if MajBlue will feather with a flex nib?

I no longer own any flex nib pens, so cannot comment exactly on point.

It does not feather through a fairly wet writing Aurora Optima medium nib.

I just used an old steel dip nib, which lays down a lot of ink, and it did feather on a couple different papers.

I like it ! It looks a lot like Parker Penman Sapphire. I may have to get it and do a comparison!

I love Majestic Blue also, especially on fine writing paper. On cheaper paper the ink is so saturated it takes quite a long time to dry completely. I can't use it for note-taking in an inexpensive composition book because the ink tends to come off on my hands (that I am left-handed probably doesn't help much). I am trying out Diamine Midnight, which as Henry noted is better behaved (see Henry's review) although it doesn't pop off the page like Majestic Blue does.

I've tried it with very flexy dip pens and a somewhat flexy Reform 1745 with no problems whatsoever. And it is a lovely blue...

Excellent review, thanks for sharing.

And how can this be, because he is the Kwisatz Haderach.

I tried to wash the Majestic blue out of the barrel of the Sheaffer cartridge pen today, to no avail. The barrel is now soaking in a glass of water. This ink stains beautifully.

May you have pens you enjoy, with plenty of paper and ink. :)

Please use only my FPN name "Gran" in your posts. Thanks very much!

Strange that there are so many conflicting accounts of the ink. I wonder if those who bought this ink in the recent months have anything to comment? For those who noticed feathering, does adding a bit of water help?

love this ink, I want to try both watering it down for a lighter blue sometimes I find it to bee too dark for a blue. I also want to try my hand at ink mixing and create a blue black.

This has become my favourite standard blue. Dark, vibrant, luscious - like a classic red wine (if it wasn't blue and an ink). Unfortunately - for the Midnight - it has unseated the Diamine Midnight as closest-to-the-perfect-dark-blue. I almost feel sorry for the Midnight. The Midnight is a very handsome ink, but this is something special. Unfortunately the smearing test didn't scan well. The drying time is fast - 5-7 s. A very well behaved, non-feathering, delicious blue.

I must say that I really like your writing =D. Btw, what fountain pen are you using?

I am in the process of choosing what bottle of ink to purchase as an everyday blue. It is such a difficult decision. The one thing that makes it easy for me is that the diamine comes in a 30 ml bottle for about $6.50 so it's not going to kill me to get two bottles. My problem is that I don't know weather to go one bottle dark say, Midnight and one bottle more vibrant say, Imperial, Royal or China blue? My, my; decisions , decisions!

We pen enthusiasts who have limited resources end up writing with Chinese pens that cost six dollars and ink that cost $7.00 Just to have the pleasure of writing with a fountain pen. If we had a bit more resources we could buy the $28 bottle of Pilot, Visconti, or other luscious inks. We could also perhaps afford a Pelikan M series, Mont Blanc or even have a few Deltas or Edisons. . . boy one can get carried away! I had to stop myself and get back to reality.

TWO BOTTLE AT $7.00 sit down with my Chinese friends, a Vintage Arnold, a lovely Waterman's Ideal with a #2 flex nib that's missing the clip and jewel, a Parker Vacumatic Golden Brown Debutante that's missing a blind cap and an old Wahl Oxford that still needs some work and WRITE MY SELF A FEW LETTERS IN LOVELY BLUE INK!

When I'm done. . . I'm going to sit back in my chair and smile  with great satisfaction.

You will like Majestic blue.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
