Noodler's Habanero

We are still in Fall. Old man winter has yet to appear with his seasonal dandruff. :) For tonight, we have Noodler's Habanero. It's the orange stuff. Notice how this ink appears under a fine nib as you read futher down the ink review. Interesting, eh?

Habanero is one of my regular inks. Your sample, on my screen looks like a uniform orange. When I use it, particularly with a wet medium nib, the color isn't uniform at all. Instead, I see shadings of orange, red, and yellow which I find very attractive. That lends interest to the writing and an Autumn feel. Still, the ink is dark enough to be easily read. It's good to find a fun, bright color that performs as well as Habanero.

Great review. Your combintaion of nib size/ink is very appealing. Those Pelikan wider nibs really do a good job showing the vibrancy of the color and its color shading. Have enjoyed using that ink in the past. Will have to try it in one of my Pelikan medium nibs.

I enjoyed your review, especially presented in the italics. (And can only envy the consistency of your letterforms!)

Orange is one color I don't yet have, and since it seems to shade beautifully, I might just have to add it to my want list.

Thanks for the review!

Shortly after I done a few ink reviews, someone mention that the ink with my broad nib looked different than the ink he had. In a nutshell, different nib sizes brought out different qualities of a particular ink. That's why I added a fine nib for comparison because the ink may look different to someone using a fine nib as oppose to my broad nib. I too, find shading as an added bonus. It's like buy two inks for the price of one. Yet, there are other fountain pen users with a preference for a uniform colour of a particular ink. That is the main reason I include a fine nib in the comparison section. I'm glad you like the Habanero. If you can make the time, I would certainly like to read an ink review from you. A broad nib would be an excellent choice. :)

Thanks for the compliments, Carol. Italics is a skill I have, yet flex nib mastery is something I need work on as well as the blackletter script. :)

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
