KCat,

Have you tried my "Umbergine" mixture? (or variations thereof).

Don

I have not. how close to Tanzanite is the Iraqi indigo?

I haven't mixed in a long time. I think I'm getting lazy and hoping someone will just make the color I'm looking for. The Suarigo (sp?) looks interesting as well.

My early mix that gave me exactly what I wanted was Vespucci Red, something purple and a tiny bit of Levenger cobalt.

But my neighbour pointed out that it was barely different from PR Plum. Actually what she said was "How is that different from this?" as she wrote with the fresh bottle of Plum I had given her. <_< I've since decided that Plum is too red. :)

Maybe after Christmas I'll break out the 6-well plate and the syringes again. :)

Saguaro Wine is a true dark magenta. Not purple, nor burgundy.

And you know you can trust me about the pink/purple/burgundy family.

I did a true bordeaux mix which is a bit clearer than burgundy like a light claret.

The mix was 90% to 95% of a long Waterman red cartridge and the rest Waterman Black.

Put the Red first in a vial add a drop of black, mix and use a dip pen to try do one more. You can do drops 2 by 2 if you wish but I'd be cautious because too much black and it gets muddy.

Is it fair for an intelligent and family oriented mammal to be separated from his/her family and spend his/her life starved in a concrete jail?

Hi chupie!

I got the Caribbean Sea yesterday and it's gorgeous! I will scan a sample tomorrow at work and post it here.

Casmi

 I forgot I ordered Doestevsky which *looks* similar. We'll have to see what it looks like in real life.

Yes - I trust you. You seem to have the same trouble with the color that I do - being rather uhm... discerning. :)

I have Saguaro Wine. I was referring to Don's mix which he calls Saguarigo. :)

Still - Storm does look interesting. Unfortunately, I've used Christmas and our unusually cold weather (by Texas standards) as an excuse to spend too much $$ as it is (fleece, I love fleece.) So I'll be testing mixes and the like eventually - but no ink bottles for a while.

No Waterman inks here anymore except some very old very concentrated Violet. I actually have to clean out my "pen" cabinet though. I've gotten rid of a lot of ink but still have the containers taking up space.

thread drift - sorry. 'night all.

Managed to get some of the Storm on Saturday - Selfridges weren't sold out.

Didn't have much time to play with it though.

Got a copperscript dip pen out for a quick go, lovely colour. Everything I'd hoped it to be - a nice aubergine, but not too dark.

Hi London,

I hope you left a bottle for me!

The land of temptation - actually, I usually let The Writing Desk deliever and save the walk down Oxford Street (can't hop on and off the new bendy buses like the old Routemasters!) and cash till queues this time of year.

Storm is appropriate considering the weather we've been having.

I wonder what colour should be called "Tornado"?

I know there are pen shops in Myrtle Beach South Carolina. Have to go there on family matters and will do some ink shopping while I am there.

Those are great looking inks.

For anyone that has the Caran D'Ache Blue Sky, how does it compare to Diamine Royal Blue or Pelikan Blue?

Hi Nick, I haven't looked at this thread in a while. No, the inks are not very water resistant. I just filled a Sailor 1911M, music nib, with Storm. This ink shows nice shading with a really broad nib.

Larry

thanks. i figured it would be asking too much for these beautiful inks to be water resistant/proof. theyd be perfect inks if they were though...
