Bic Round Stic Ink Equivalent

I recently got a new job at a laboratory which does medical validation testing. Because the primary component of the business is written reports they are very concerned with standardizing the way reports are done, one of which is a requirement that all reports be completed in waterproof blue ink and they strongly recommend restricting your pen use to the large collection of BIC round sticks that they have purchased. I'm not particularly ecstatic to be doing so much writing with one of these

So I was hoping that I could find a bulletproof Noodler's ink (or any other waterproof ink for that matter) that would be roughly the same color as the bic ink but which I could use in my fountain pen. My ultimate goal is to be able to use the pen I want without standing out as, "that guy can't just do his job the way it is asked of him". I'm betting there is no ink that meets the criteria but thought it couldn't hurt to ask.

If that is the look they want, you would be best served by using the supplied tools.

 

Any pen/ink combination you choose will stand out from everyone else's reports. A fountain pen line will look different from a biro laid line, even if you do manage to match the colour.

 

I'd recommend you take their "strong recommendation", especially as the new hire.

the last time i used a bic, it wasnt waterproof, but i might have gotten a dud...

Just for clarification, my intention is to use what they want me to use except in the instance that there is a really good alternative. I don't intend to create problems at a new job over a pen, just curious if there are any pen inks, particularly in blue, which would be indistinguishable to most viewers from your standard cheapo ballpoint. As I said previously, I'm willing to bet there is no alternative but I thought it was worth asking.

If you're willing to use a rollerball, consider a Uni Vision Elite- they use a pretty good indelible ink. Other than that, you might try Noodler's Polar blue.

 

The pen you're using will also affect the look of the line- to replicate a ballpoint line-size, try a Parker 61 with an XF nib. Go for a C/C filler one, and you'll not have an problem with fancier inks.

How about a Sharpie Pen. Not quite what you asked for, but they are one of my favorite non-fountain pen type pens.
