Visconti Factory Stub Nibs?

Prime

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have any idea of the selection of facroty stub nibs for Visconti Pens? I cant remember for the life of me which models they were available on, even though it is a special order nib. In particular, is it possible to order one for a Van Gogh Maxi? Getting the nib ground into a stub is of course an option, but id like to know what options I have with the manufacturer first.

I purchased a factory stub nib for my Visconti, Wall Street. It was pretty darned expensive and once I screwed it into the body, the cap no longer fit right. Visconti has offered to take a look at it, but I haven't taken the time to send it in. I purchased my nib from Bittner's in Carmel, California as I was there in person and he happened to have the nib in stock.

LOL! I went to Paradise Pen Tyson's Corner, VA and wanted to buy the Divina LE on sale there, but the attendant said that Viscomti did not make stub nibs. He lost a sale, and I a great pen.

Hey Prime,

I have both Visconti Stubs, and have also taken my broad nibs to nibmeisters to be stubbed. They've all been great nibs.

If you want to purchase factory stubs, I suggest that you drop Bryant a note. He will definitely look after you.

Regards,

Soki

Here is the current line up for Visconti nibs...

Steel small nibs-F, M and Broad

Steel Large nibs-F, M and Broad

14k small nibs-F, M and Broad

14k Large nibs-F, M and Broad

18k Gold nibs-XXF, XF, F, M, OM, B, OB, BB, OBB, S and Ive seen an italic too. Note: These are nibs that are out there... The XXF, XF and Oblique nibs are harder to get. Stubs are hard now, but in about a month, they will be plentiful... Ive been promised that! This is great for us stub lovers, but not for the nibsters! :)

BTW, on another note, the Van Gogh Maxi now comes with a steel nib, so If you like this pen and see it with the 14k nib, I would get it before they sell out and go to the steel ones.

As for a choice of buying a stub or getting it ground... I suggest the grind... MSRP on the 18k nib is $320, or send your pen to Mike at "mike it work" and tell him I sent you. He will take care of you, and will turn your pen around quick...

PS... I own 22 pens that I call my own right now... All but one have one kind of stub or another!

Bry, if you buy a pen new is there additional cost for a stub?

Nope, when they get them in stock, as long as its a pen that normally comes with an 18k nib, there is not an extra charge. If you wanted to upgrade from an 14k-18k nib, there is a charge of $45. So not too bad, if you wanted to upgrade to a stub, its about the same price of a good nibster. And, I just looked at the new price list, the MSRP is actually 330... But, look... If anyone wants any 18k nibs... I have a lot of them, so shoot me an email... It wont be close to 330 as long as I have some...

Thanks for the help guys. I used to be in the pen business outside of DC, but I got myself out of retail about 2 years ago. I miss the pen biz occasionally and its kind of sad too realize how much i've forgotten over the last 18 months. Ill look into some of your recomendations and maybe talk to Visconti directly. As I recall i owe their rep lunch (there sure has been alot of reps moving around since I left).
