Legal Pad With Faint Lines

I'm looking for recommendations on legal pads with faint lines. I don't want to purchase Rhodias or similarly pricey brands. I usually use Docket, Office Depot brand, or Ampad. These are fine, but I'm looking for pads with very faint lines. Has anyone found such pads?

Thanks!

I'm with you on the faint lines. I prefer my lines light grey, almost as if they aren't even there, and just enough to keep me aligned. You can probably forget finding something like this, but you can easily make your own. Just buy legal-sized paper and then print your own lines. You can find some great templates by searching google for 'lined paper templates'

M by Staples has some pads with light gray lines and no left-hand margin line on the front side. There are no lines on the other side. The paper is smooth but there is quite a bit of bleed-through on some inks, but not really any with thinner inks like Lamy. I use it for letter writing when I do not plan on using both sides. It's not the cheapest but it's not nearly as expensive as Rhodia. It has a really thick, stiff backing as well which is nice IMO.

Whitelines is wonderful. It is more in the Rhodia/Clairfontaine price range, but the paper is terrific, the company is socially responsible and the paper is terrific. I got it a year or two ago from a Canadian retailer, but they're now available in the US through a Minnesota distributor, and on Amazon.com. I highly recommend the paper - it definitely meets your needs, although possibly not the budget.

Best regards,

Adam

Try this: http://www.staples.com/Staples-Eco-Friendly-Writing-Pads/product_749567?cmArea=SEARCH

Looks like free delivery to your local Staples store. Light brown lines, and well behaved. Not Legal size though, but similar format. Cheap!!!

The pad DanF is referring to is the Staples Eco-friendly notepad. Made of renewable bagasse (sugar-cane waste) paper, these pads are one of the hottest items for threads here on FPN. Cheap, very FP-friendly, and made of sustainable materials. Many FPN'ers can't say enough good about them. Only drawback is that the paper's weight feels like about 16-pound paper. However, no bleedthrough, as light as the paper is. Definitely recommended for a try.

From a person's actions, we may infer attitudes, beliefs, --- and values. We do not know these characteristics outright. The human dichotomies of trust and distrust, honor and duplicity, love and hate --- all depend on internal states we cannot directly experience. Isn't this what adds zest to our life?

Thanks for the info.! Isn't 16lb paper standard for legal pads--even good? I've seen some pads with 15lb paper weight. Leaving bleed through aside (because I don't write on the back of legal pads), is there much feathering? Does the paper feel flimsy and cheap?

Thanks!

The Eco Friendly paper from staples is really like no other. It's thin but sort of crisp, smooth, inks may spread a little, but don't feather - you line may be just a tad wider, but have clean edges. I have never had bleed through, you can see the ghost of the writing on the other side however, so using one side of the paper is best. It reminds me a bit of the sort of paper they used to use in Bibles, probably not that thin, but has that sort of feel.

If you have a local store, just run down and pick up a sample notebook and try it. It's the best bargain out there for use with fountain pens.
