I bought this ink because it was $2 a bottle, and never used it. Now, two years later, I'm finally entering a blue stage and enjoying it very much. I prefer it to an Aurora Blue I had a sample of.

The ink looks purple in the scan, is anyone getting this, or is it just my screen (other ink colours seem reasonably accurate.

 

Are you able to post a photo?

It looks a bit purple on my screen as well, but pleasantly so. Looks like a great ink for a great price =)

Sorry it appears purple to some. There is no hint of purple in this blue, not even slightly like in Waterman Florida Blue. I don't have the ability to post a picture, but I can do another scan of it next to some other blues that have a purple tinge to them such as Aurora and PR Tanzanite.

Here is a comparison with a couple inks that have some purple tint to them. I recant my earlier statement about Waterman Florida Blue, as it is almost indistinguishable from the Hero in this comparison.

 

The left column was done with a dip pen, the right with a Waterman CF with fine 14k nib. Sorry about the scratch out at the top of the right column. I started using a 1924 Parker Duofold Jr., but it would not write well.

Where can I buy this ink?

I got it from Bob Speerbrecher (speerbob on ebay). Here is a link to his listing. If you don't want to buy a whole case, let me know I have 12 bottles and would be glad to part with some.

I actually want to try some of the Hero carbon ink first. What are people's observations with that ink, compared to the regular hero black.

 

I haven't tried the regular black, but I have tried the carbon. I had it in my pen for a minute, admiring its smoothness, and then read the label (maybe? I don't know, somehow) and realized it was carbon, became frightened of clogging, and flushed. I've been using it as pen and brush ink, but maybe I'll try it tonight in an Esterbrook or something.

Sorry if the scans are missing. I just discovered that when users log out, our photobucket linked images disappear.

 

I don't yet know if this means that the scans can only be seen by others if I am on the board. If you want to see the scans and cannot, let me know and I can email them to you.

You can disregard the previous post. I have been informed this has always been the case on FPN, visitors do not see all that logged on members see.

I m in India. Desperately wanna try thus ink. But its not available. In eBay n Ali Express its $6 per bottle n its way too costly.

      Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

      It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

      Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

      Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

      @asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
