How to tell a Parker 75 fake?

Hi all,

I have come across an auction in ebay for a "Parker 75 Ecossais Silver" by seller suensuenhokhok, (please search in ebay, I couldn't find the item number) and was wondering how can we tell a real one from a fake, Any indications?

Are they commonly counterfeited as the sonnets are?

Thanks.

The seller is from Thailand with low rating and mostly $.01 purchases to get it..

The chances of ever seeing that pen if you win it are slim to none

Do a search on Thailand sellers here and you will read the horror stories..

Well, the picture is probably not of a fake 75; but the pen probably does not exist, at least in the hands of the seller.

Over and over, the risks of buying pens from Thailand from sellers with little to no feedback has been listed on the FPN.

Just don't do it.

That's why I don't buy from Thailand or any other foreign country with the exception of one seller in England. I only deal with reputable dealers and I want prompt safe shipping once I pay for it with Paypal. Other thing, ID theft can be a concern.

The real question is will the pen get delivered to the buyer and will the seller still be listed on ebay in a month or 2. Save the auction and check back, it should be interesting.

You live in a foreign country from where I'm sitting.

What a surprise.

The seller of this item (and others) " suensuenhokhok " is no longer registered on ebay

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

There is still chemistry for processing regular chrome (positive) films like Kodak Ektachrome and Fuji Velvia, but Kodachrome was a completely different and multistep beast.

Ah, but how to get it processed - that is the question. I believe that the last machine able to run K-14 (Kodachrome processing) ceased to operate some 15 or so years ago. Perhaps the film will be worth something as a curiosity in my estate sale when I die. 😺

Take a lot of photos!   If the film has deteriorated or 'gone off' in any way, you can use that as a 'feature' to take 'arty' pictures - whether of landmarks, or people, or whatever.
