Writing Straight

For some reason, I can keep my lines straight, and my margins neat.

I just line up the first line on the top corner of the page, and all the rest on the line before it.

Now that I'm used to unlined paper, lines are actually kind of constraining, and make my handwriting a little less neat.

Yep, me too!

I use a guidepage, more for the effect of margins on the right hand side of the page. Without a reminder I tend to run off the very edge! It looks s much prettier when I use a guide.

Who cares about straight lines? It takes all the individuality and fun out of writing a letter.

Blessed be,

Yours,
Randal

From a person's actions, we may infer attitudes, beliefs, --- and values. We do not know these characteristics outright. The human dichotomies of trust and distrust, honor and duplicity, love and hate --- all depend on internal states we cannot directly experience. Isn't this what adds zest to our life?

When I don't use guidelines I tend to get accused of being a ...lawyer...

Lucky you!

gary, a lawyer whose handwriting is half a step above merely atrocious but who can write a reasonably straight line!

I am so jealous of you natural straight line writers, especially when you use a Pelikan M205 clear blue demonstrator which would go so well with a matching opaque Pelikan M605 in a black leather two pen case and a Quo Vadis Habana notebook. But yes, my goal is one day to be able to write a straight thought or two using the system you have described but have been unable, as yet, to achieve myself.

I can sort of write in straight lines, but I've noticed (by looking at photos of my letters) that my line spacing is pretty tight. I don't use lined paper behind my letter paper because it can make my writing feel more constrained. Sometimes, though, one line will go up and then the remaining lines will also veer up. And I end up with a strange space on the bottom of my letter--it's very unattractive, ugh! Hopefully, with more practice, I will master the art of writing in straight lines!

Once, when I was writing a thank you note for an interviewer on a thick Crane card, I used a pencil and ruler to trace fine lines onto the card. After I'd written my note in ink on the lines, I erased the tell-tale lines. I made sure to brush off the eraser crumbs, too. And hey, I got that job!

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
