Noodler's Black

Does anyone have an opinion of Noodler's Black, HOD, or Aurora Black as the black with the best of these three qualities: dry time; feathering; blackness. I am looking for a good black for use in an M805 on cheap office legal pads. I am relatively pleased with my Aurora blue, but the dry time is not as fast as I would like (even in a Sailor fine!).

Thank you in advance.

Brian

How about Pelikan's own Brilliant Black? Great ink, very dark and well behaved. Somewhat drier than Aurora Black which I also like. It is my standard black in my Pelikan M150 and vintage Pelikan 140 pens.

Oh I hate that ink... It's dark, but it's so dry it made me hate my safari for a bit.

Oh gosh, my first thought on seeing the review was "I wish my Lamy 2000 flexed like that!" But, back on subject, nice review, and an excellent ink forsooth.

Looked like a good ink. Not bleed-through, not feathering and very black. But not all Noodlers' ink have these qualities. I have Singapore Honourable Blue, it bleed-through and feathering a lot.

So the ink does work nicely in your Lamy 2000, that's good, I was a little afraid about using my favorite ink in the pen which I may get pretty soon....

Y'all:

I received my bottle of Noodler's Black last week. Are all their ink bottles filled to the very brim? There was barely any airspace at all. Normally, I wouldn't complain, but I nearly spilled it because it was so full.

Ink is just about perfect, BTW. Very nice flow, smooth and even in a Pelikan M200 EF nib. Visually very saturated, no shading at all. And very little bleed-through on cheap paper, whereas every other ink I have will bleed through. There must be something to this affinity for cellulose.

Well I like it better than the ink brands that fill the bottle only a part of the way.

Me too, it ruined the Pelikan experience for me, and caused me to try to sell (unsuccessfully) my M200. It was only when I changed to Noodler's that I realised I was making a mistake.

I originally started with Pelikan brilliant black. It was a huge jump from the cartridge pen I was using...

Anyway when I bought Omas blue it was totally different!

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
