Drive-By Shootings - The Most Over-rated Pen & Why

I know this post was dug up, but it was interesting. I became more aware of the pens I did NOT see, obviously the 51, 2000 and the much debated MB were the big points of contention. I am still a newb, but a newb with a 2000 which I had repaired by Filofax (o-ring) and now it writes very nice. I did only kinda of "scan" the posts, but I saw no mention of Conway Stewart, Omas, Cross and only a few Sheaffer (did I see any Esties?). Which I must say will influence my next purchase, which I think just may be a CS.

That doesn't necessarily mean that those are the best pens, though. Just the ones that aren't mentioned so much unduly. The Parker 51 and Lamy 2000 are both great pens, but I think that the 51 is overrated and others think the 2000 is overrated. That doesn't say anything about the writing ability of the pens, just about the prevailing perceptions of them. Conway Stewart certainly isn't a bad choice, though.
