You can change the nibs on the Safari pens, they just slide out.

1.1, 1.5 and 1.9 I believe.

My camera is not a good one, but here is what I was able to get, the charcoal one is waiting for an extra fine nib. Swisher sells them and I am not mechanically or otherwise inclined. There is a thread somewhere on the network that explains about two or more different methods of replacing the nib. Ultimately, too easy for ordinary words. The piece of cellophane tape is super easy once you get the hang of it and the nib piece just pulls out. I could have been changing my nibs all the time. Unbelievable! All my pens except the Lamy Vista have Extra fine nibs. The Lamy Vista has a fine point. If anyone is interested, I have a 1.5 nib piece that I can send to you if you want it. PIF

The red one, just imagine, it has to be paid for first and sent my way.

Nice review, Henry, as always, plus your pictures just keep getting better!

The LAMY Vista clear Demo is the one I’d get, have always liked the looks each time I see a picture.

I especially like these 3 pics, the best of the bunch to me!

They flow across paper as a brush to canvas, transforming my thoughts into words and my words into art.

There is nothing else like it; the art of writing and the painting of words!”

Hi Aissa,

I'll take the 1.5 nib http://thedigitalpinoy.org/images/smileys/pray.gif

Nice colors you got there.

I just order one with EF point. I'm into calligraphy but an EF point fan as well.

Could someone explain the attraction to the clear bodied pen? I just don't get it.

Well imo, it's fun to see the ink inside a piston filling mechanism or a cartridge. And the innards of the pen as well.

But I don't like ED's, those are too messy.

Soak the cap to rewet the ink, then use a can of compressed air with the little tube on it to get back there and force the ink out. Just make sure you cover the open end of the cap with a paper towel, or you might have ink droplets everywhere. ;)

I like to saturate the feed, because it gets dry sometimes. Twisting the converter until ink is just about to come out of the hole underneath the nib.

I do this sometimes too. I just want to point out that aside from the Vista, all AL-Stars have a transparent section that allows you to do this. The other Safaris have opaque sections matching the color of the rest of the body.

I recently got a Gold Medium nib for my Vista. Here's some photos. It is a JOY to write with, having a softer, smoother touch than the Stainless Steel (though their Steel ones are nice too).

Nice review and pictures. This was my first fountain pen and as I've started to acquire more expensive pens I'm always surprised every time I come back to this pen. For the price it writes very nice and it always starts up. This is one of those pens that is always on stand by because of its reliability.
