Low bleed-through inks for cheap notebook paper

Just picked up a couple bargain spiral notebooks for back-to-school for really cheap and found out that my Private Reserve Velvet Black ink just bleeds right through the pages, making writing on the back of pages illegible. So what are some inks I can buy w/ little bleed-through that I can combat this problem with?

My Noodler's BP Black seems to work quite well w/ the paper, but are all Noodler's ink like that, or is it just the Bulletproof ones? Does Heart of Darkness have low bleed through?

Anyway, I need some suggestions from other ink companies since my local pen shop doesn't sell Noodler's anymore. Thanks!

Given the origins of Noodler's Bulletproof Black, I think it's likely to be the best or close to the best choice for bad paper. It was originally created on a challenge, to make an ink that would write on newsprint without excessive feathering. Now, there's X-Feather, which goes further in that direction, though I've heard X-Feather is actually slower drying on most papers than the original Noodler's Black.

FWIW, I've had good results with PR Ebony Blue and Ebony Green, as well as black cartridge ink purchased at Home Depot (Foray, it's their store brand, so who knows where the actual ink comes from) on some twenty-five or thirty year old notebooks I've been using up. There's a tiny bit of show-through, but not enough bleed to keep me from using the other side.

Sorry to suggest, it could also be the paper; some notebook papers are just less well suited for FP usage than others... :hmm1:

Does not always write loving messages.

Does not always foot up columns correctly.

Does not always sign big checks.

Do you have a Lamy Safari? The nibs seem to behave really well on 'bleeding' paper

Generally, one Noodler's ink doesn't behave like another. You might check out the past reviews. As ZeissIkon notes in his post, slower drying time may go with less bleed-through.

Noodler's Standard Brown works pretty well for me.

Iron gall inks do well on bad paper, even from wet pens (and they look better from wetter pens). You'd have to pay a tiny bit of extra attention to the pen because of the iron gall, but it's only a tiny bit extra.

How did I miss this posting? I just posted a redundant thread (almost identical to this one) earlier today.
