Suggestions: Pen as wedding gift

lowks

Recommended Posts

My fiance has delegated the job of getting my own wedding gift. Isn't that just great?! So I am looking around for a pen to mark the important date in my life. Any suggestions?

Without any guidance as to price range - I'd suggest the Pelikan 900 Toledo. If price is an object, something else will have to do. How about a nice vintage PFM V? A good example can be had for $300 - $400.

May we live, not by our fears but by our hopes; not by our words but by our deeds; not by our disappointments but by our dreams.

Congratulations on your upcoming Wedding - and for finding such a thoughtful fiance!!!

I agree with both suggestions.........but what is your favourite pen - or wishlist pen???

How about one of the CS Henry Simpole pens? Now that pen looks like a wedding!!! http://www.henrysimpole.com/portfolio24174.html

Any ideas on where to get the vintage pen? By the way what does 'PFM' stand for?

Give thought to having a pen made for you by Edison pens.

You could have a one-of-a-kind pen specifically made for your personal preferences. That would be appropriate for a wedding where having a gift which is unique and personal is very important.

Is the gift for only you, or for both of you. If it is for both, while it may take some work to find, Parker made and marketed matched wedding pen sets. The ones I am familiar with were Vacumatics and were produced in the late 1930s and early 1940s.

I would get a pen from a brand that makes the complete pen, one that is made of precious metal with a gold band, and new.

These parameters seem appropriate for this gift in my opinion which explains my choice of the Soltiaire, although the name

ironically does not fit the occasion. :D

Only for me unfortunately she is not so much of a pen fan

Hi! I'm sure the Simpole pen can be shipped anywhere in the world - mine was! I got a good deal from Andy at

http://www.andys-pens.co.uk you can tell Andy I sent you - no affiliation except one happy customer! Other CS dealers will be able to take care of it too of course.

PFM stands for "Pen for Men" and refers to lovely vintage Sheaffers http://www.vintagepens.com/Sheaffer_PFM.shtml

Whatever pen you choose will always be a very special pen - so modern or vintage it has to be one that 'shouts' to you!

Good luck with your quest - and what a wonderful quest!

Edited to make clearer!

Visconti Romanica, either version, if the MB suggestion doesn't do it for you. If you're going to blow on a Simpole, you might as well get a bespoke with both your initials worked in. :hmm1:

How about having one made for the occasion? Edison Pens might be a good choice; there is also Nakaya and Danitrio but they might be more costly.

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. Might I suggest that you pick up your wedding pen while on your honeymoon? Depending on where you go it would be a way to link the pen to the wedding and honeymoon. My wife let me pick out my gift---we went to Kiawah Island near Charleston S.C. on our honeymoon--I went to the Mont Blanc store and my bride got me a Meisterstuck Carbon steel pen for my wedding gift. Each time I use it , I think of our wedding and honeymoon.

May I suggest a simple Japanese urushi pen in your favorite color, for example a Danitrio or a custom Nakaya?

Omas makes a Wedding Set still.

And trust me on this, if you buy a gift for yourself that also includes her, your life will be good.

Never heard of either one of these. Might have to order them online. Somehow not used to that.

That's a grand idea. Hopefully we end up in the pen capital of the world or something for our honeymoon :-)
