Duplicate pens

Recommended Posts

I have seen a lot of topics here about what are the best pens. Usually these topics come in different forms (desert island pen, most valuable pens, etc), I confess that they are my favorite topics, so as I'm going to propose another slight variation.

This come from the fact that I realized that for some pens in my collection I have been urged to buy a duplicate (maybe in a different color and/or a different nib), and that these are the pens that my hand approaches unconsciously (i.e. not meditated rotation) when I have to write something. Some of them have not had a special status before this reflection, but now I think to know what are my favorite pens.

Concluding, I should have presently more than 100 pens, the pens that are duplicate are:

1) Lamy Safari

2) Lamy Studio

3) Pelikan M200/M400 (more than two)

4) Montblanc 146

5) Cross Apogee (well this one is not duplicate, but it should be)

Genny

P.S. I have other pens that are duplicated, but their duplication was more related to economic reasons (good deals) or to the unsuccessful of the first example (nib not of the right size, etc).

Current multiples:

Namiki/Pilot VP - I have eight of them, in different colors and nib sizes.

Waterman Edson - Ruby, Emerald, and Sapphire.

And for sheer convenience purposes, I have a box of 24, plus 1, of Reform 1745s. I don't mind if one gets lost, and these are what I'll hand someone who wants to "borrow" a pen or expresses a first interest.

For me it's the Visconti, Wall Street. I have two of them (although one of them doesn't write yet). What a pen! What a pen!

I only wish I could have two "Mistress of Fire" pens, but I guess one will have to be enough.

I have two Waterman Experts. One has an M nib, black, gold trim, and is almost always filled with black ink. It's my workhorse note-taking pen at the office. The other is a Dune Blue F nib. It's generally filled with blue ink, and is used when I want or need a finer line. It comes and goes in the rotation.

My collection is down to 9 pens. 6 of those are Pelikan M600s. (Mostly city special editions.) The other three pens haven't been used in a while. It might be time to get down to 6 pens ;)

I have ten and feel guilty about that. Three are Watermans, two of those Charlestons. And I must confess I am asking for a Pelikan (my first) for my upcoming birthday. As someone said to me once, How many pens can you write with at one time? And I replied, You just don't get the 'pen thing'. You might as well say Why do you want a book, you already have one. And, to my credit, a friend recently commented, Every time I see you writing something you are using a different pen. So all my pens get used. A lot.

Not counting "for the collection" pens that I don't use often, I do have a few duplicates among the users:

4 Omas Tokyos (each factory B nibs, ground to either stubs or CI's)

8 Bexley (/Chatterly/Penultimate/CFP) Poseidons

4 Pelikan M800 size pens

3 Sheaffer Oversize Balances

Regards, greg

Don't feel bad. I'm old; I'm meh about most things.

5 Lamy Safari/Vista

5 Phileases

2 Kultur

4 Bexley Fun Times

4 Danitrio Avant Garde II

2 Danitrio Steel Patterns

2 Taccia Continental

2 Lamy Studios

2 Sheaffer NoNonsense

2 No name demontrators

I am going to get 2 Simplicity and custom color little brothers for them.

I also really want a Spring Safari in Medium and Bold and matching ink.

I guess all my pens are duplicates!

When I really like the design of a pen, I buy it in all the colors I like, then I get matching ink.

I usually plot purchase too, except for the Danitrios, I just jump on them when they are available in silver appointments.

Posting then going somewhere else on the forum so that he who must be disobeyed doesn't see the list of my pens and says "no more pens for you"!
